Not found any groups yet, really just getting into actively looking for other like-minded people. Living in MA has its benefits in regards to not being a very religious state, although we are know for our Irish Catholics. I have lost a few "friends" in recent years being more open and questioning why they believe - lots of de-friending on facebook and no one wished me a Merry xmas this year after seeing my "A" pin on my jacket for the Richard Dawkins Foundation. Cheers for the friendly invite - looking forward to becoming more active in the pursue of free thinking.

Not a whole of fun things to do in Cape unfortunately, lol. I play music with some guys a couple of nights a week, and then just tool around on the internet mostly. I have been trying to get out and meet folks for the past few years, but there aren't a whole lot of people I click with here (typical FOX new Midwesterners). Most of the friends I have right now are younger than me and single (like me), but hanging out with them ends up being more of a fishing night at bars for women...which I grew out of a while ago.

Originally from a family farm in East Prairie, MO and raised in a pretty religious environment even though by the age of 15 I knew it was all fairy tales. Joined the Army at 18 and served 10 years including a tour in Iraq. Moved back to Cape about 5 years ago and now work for the state in IT.

Thanks for the comment. You would be surprised that even though it was our "dream" also, many think we are nuts! We live on a spiritual and intellectual island surrounded by the ignorance and superstition of rural cultures. Each day we are simply grateful to be alive in this sanctuary where we live simply and yet richly in deep contemplation, meditation and chopping wood and carrying water (not literally!) Thanks to the internet, we can make connections that are encouraging and enlightening.

Finally got out of coaching...except for once a week for an hour...and I still judge. But got a nice desk job for a small investment company. Makin' bank. Bought a house, paying off debt, going to Vegas next month. Yes, I attended some meet ups here, but they are always held at an area that is about 45 min or so from my house. I even took some family members to a 4th of July celebration w/ them last year. I still felt like an outsider though. Sometimes just having one thing in common with ppl is not enough to build a friendship on. Maybe I'm just not normal enough. Oh well.
