A group for fans of one of the most influential horror writers. H.P. Lovecraft was an atheist and materialist, and so are the protagonists in most of his works, driven insane by discovering the existence of alien 'gods' defying science and reason.
Not much to tell. I grew up in a small (population 1,000) village in Central (some say Southern) Illinois. I became an Atheist in 7th or 8th grade, when I discovered Science. You can guess how that went. But I survived, mainly because I can get rather combative when dealing with theists and their bullying. Apparently my attitude helped the kids in the later generations who were nonbelievers, that's what they told me anyway and I choose not to argue with it.
I joined the Army in '01 (before 9/11) and have been in and out of it ever since. I will get out again soon, and go to school. I was an Infantry Paratrooper from '01 to '05, now I am an MI POG, I hate it thoroughly, give me "The Line" any day.I figure now's as good a time as any to get an education. Archaeology and Anthropology will be my subjects, with generous amounts of Biology and Literature thrown in.
I have a daughter (she's 2 and a cutie) from a failed marriage and don't know if I ever want to try marriage or have any more kids.
I like anime, comic books, SF literature, SF television (Farscape, Dr. Who, Firefly), Table top gaming, Magic: The Gathering, computer games, console games. Pretty much what most folks would consider "Nerd Stuff".
I am just here at the site to make friends and enjoy the community.

Hey! Thanks for the add!! :) I actually may be in Seattle relatively soon. I have some friends who want to check out the nightlife and see why Seattle is the is the best city for young singles. So anyway, I'll definitely let you know when we're up there!
We wish you well with your practical intentions towards promoting the truth ---- which is atheism.
Welcome to Atheist Nexus which honours rationality as the key to finding truth. We encourage you to join groups and follow and contribute as you please.

This busy group has fine discussion, good writing, about 100 science video clips including 10 recent Stanford University lectures on evolution. It seeks to understand the mysteries of the universe and how life and everything began.
