Yesterday I played a 6,5 hour long poker tournament among friends where lots and lots of marihuana was smoked. Great atmosphere, no issues, nobody got hurt, still in some countries this would have been illegal... Bullshit. Legalize it!

- I am an implicit atheist, which means that I have an absence of theistic belief (belief in god or gods), but that I also have no conscious rejection of it. I am a weak or negative atheist in that I am non-explicit in the denial of a belief in a god or gods. I am a practical atheist (AKA apatheistic or pragmatic atheist) which means that I live as though no god or gods exist and explain phenomenon without resorting to divinity. This is due to an absence of religious motivation; there is no belief in a god or gods that leads me to take any action at all. I am also a theoretical atheist because I argue explicitly against the existence of gods, and a skeptic because I believe that certainty about anything is impossible. I am a logical positivist and a theological noncognitivist because I believe in the unintelligibility of the word "God" and phrases such as, "God is all-powerful" or "God exists" ("God exists" is cognitively meaningless and/or does not express a proposition). As a theodicean atheist, I believe that terms such as "omnipresent", "omnibenevolent", and "omniscient" are not reconcilable with the fact that "evil" exists in the world. I am a constructive, or axiological atheist since I subscribe to the idea of "higher absolutes" such as humanity rather than any religious moral authority. I am also a positive atheist (Gora, 1972) because as an atheist I promote positive values and, finally, I am a nontheist due to an absence of or rejection of theism.

Yesterday I tried to add a group that would have serious conversations about marijuana. During these rough economic times, I think it's pertinent to discuss a cash crop as lucrative and easily cultivated as marijuana is. Not to mention the medical benefits that marijuana has been proven to offer, the non-narcotic form of marijuana, hemp, can be cultivated for uses such as paper, cloth, textiles, soap, shampoo, rope...you name it, hemp can do it. My wife is from Finland where they have a state church but are not as religiously hung up as we are here. My brother is a fundamentalist rabbi, but we weren't raised particularly religious, so I've never had to worry about that. We'll just tell the kids that all these creatures are imaginary: santa, easter bunny, tooth fairy, god, etc. I read the older one a lot of Dr. Seuss so I think she'll get it.....

- I lived in Park Forest 2001-03 and then moved to Springfield, IL in June, 2003, where I remain. I miss the restaurants and the el, but the cost of living is so reasonable here, from housing to parking to taxes.
