About Me
When I'm not programming (either web development or game development), I'm usually: playing the guitar (and/or singing); playing the drums; eating; playing video games; drinking wine; building computers; reading; playing Magic: The Gathering; watching movies or TV shows; learning something; teaching something to someone; blogging; writing about the irrationality of theism; just thinking...using my brain somehow!

I may be too busy to keep tabs of another social networking site - but I'm not too busy to at least sign up and give it a whirl. :)

Hey Tristan,
Thanks for the heads up re this site. It provides a much better forum for atheist concerns than Gather alone. Sorry I haven't commented much on your writing. I've been more involved with literary projects, although my ongoing one is poems suggesting what really happened in those Bible stories. I attach one here FYI.

The One That Got Away

O my god! What am I going to tell her?
She sends me out for Nineveh oil
And I disappear for three days and nights.
--Oh my eyes are popping out of my head--
Would I had that olive oil right now.
I’d rub it into my throbbing temples…
Temple, that’s it! I went to the Temple to pray,
Got spaced on frankincense and myrrh,
And prayed for three nights and three days.
She might believe it; she’s got the faith.
Ah, but it would be too easy to check.
--Oh Yahweh, my aching head—
If she finds out about that boat from Spain,
With the flowing wine and dancing girls,
My sorry butt is fish guts.
Wait. I think I see how to turn the tide my way.
I fell off the Nineveh boat and into the bay…
Yes, yes, and a big fish swallowed me whole and took me away.
And I prayed and prayed—she’d never know—
Until Yahweh told the fish to let me go.
That’s a whale of a story, if I say so myself.
I may go down in history as Jonah,
Author of the greatest big fish story ever told!

"Free-thinker" was a popular term in the 19th century amongst atheists and I see no reason why it shouldn't be re-activated. It captures the Enlightenment ideals of thinking and investigation without fear or prejudice. For the British amongst us Cha…

I think this ignores one simple and demonstrable fact: Beginning with the 17th century enlightenment, there has been a gradual movement away from religious faith. An increase in knowledge about nature has offered a competing theory about life's orig…

I agree, its like if you don't live in the city your screwed out of an atheist community by the distance it takes to participate.

This group will do more than just pick apart biblical errors and contradictions. Let's closely examine the Bible and Qur'an. Nothing is sacred; every prophecy, proverb, and parable deserves examination and critique.

Hi everyone,I grew up in a Christian home, and for 30 years I was quite dedicated to it. A couple of years ago, I think it was in 2004 or 2005, I lost all faith in the religion. So here I am. Atheist since 5 years, and I can see any reason why ever…
