The Ebola Fear Learning Curve

Nancy Shute puts American Ebola over-reaction into context. Over-reaction is a place to start, a teachable moment. Why It's OK To Worry About Ebola, And What's Truly ScaryPublic health types are getting increasingly annoyed with people freaking out about Ebola in the United States, from governors to the general public. It's easy to see why; when I heard a swim…See More

US Emergeny Preparedness

Not so much in the US.The U.S. health care apparatus is so unprepared and short on resources to deal with the deadly Ebola virus that even small clusters of cases could overwhelm parts of the system, according to an Associated Press review of readiness at hospitals and other…See More

Why Name Calling

Here's the Reason Climate Deniers Use Abusive Name Calling as a TacticWe're so used to right wing name calling, it's easy to forget that it's a deliberate deceitful tactic, to which they resort to deflect from they can't offer fact-based arguments.Ever wondered why such abusive name-calling has become so prevalent on the internet when discussing man-made climate change? Poo Fools (us all)

Day after day I see Atheist Nexus members argue scripture details, spreading theistic memes here, without realizing their self-betrayal. Memetics still seems, to most, an abstract intellectual debate. We can't grasp religion as an infective agent. We can't see ourselves as merely copying machines for viruses.…

Hi Ruth

Just to say thanks for telling me part of your story. I can understand it; also my wife had IBS for several years. How it came and how it went, we do not know.
I’ve been on my relevant drugs for six years now. The cancer was found too late. It was already locally advanced when found, but the treatment is holding it at bay temporarily. Because I have the sword of Damocles above my head I am working like mad—maybe 60 hours every week, week on week, and getting out to major conferences, running sessions, giving lectures. Also writing several books, some are advanced or finished. Will publish as ebooks. This is why I spend little time on Atheist Nexus—so much to do.
So let’s keep smiling, both of us.   Yours, Terry.

The rules must be working Ruth. This is the cleanest site I've ever been on. I haven't seen the first bit of spam here and for the most part people are very civil to each other.
Maybe it's because there are no theists. I've seen theists become extremely nasty on other sites. Go figure.

Dear Ruth, I deleted the video immediately upon reading your message. It works in the U.K so I wouldn't think it's a problem. It was just an afterthought to the discussion and doesn't need to be replaced.

Ruth, I'm not the best cook, but I use the extra virgin for saute.  We don't do super hot temps.  We have a gas stove with the burner set on medium.  My partner grew up on Chinese stir fry and this works for him too.  I scramble eggs and make hash browns with the same olive oil at medium.  It is Kirkland Extra Virgin Organic in 2 liter bottle.

For all I know we do it all wrong, but it works for us.
