In my spare time, I'm Executive Director of the American Humanist Association, where I try to raise the positive profile of Humanism in culture and politics. In my other spare time I'm a board member of the organization providing Humanists leadership training, the Humanist Institute, and an advisory board member of Secular Student Alliance, which is mobilizing students for a new enlightenment. I'm also an advisory board member for the Women's Law & Public Policy Fellowship Program, which helps attorneys to pursue their interests in public service and women's equality.

Hi Roy! I'm Kris. As well as hosting the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.
I wonder if you could let your American Humanists know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.
Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.
Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.
Its good to know that you are there,i would like to start a translation project in my country Uganda, much of our humanist ideas wont be understood in english only, what do you think about that?

Not at all. I was not referring to anything you or her said specifically. Some of those things were clearly wrong. A few of them were just stupid, or attempting to get a negative response.
The ones that were specifically derogatory should have bee...
Doing more research on the European colonization of American continent, I was exploring the role religion played. I found reference to an event know as the Valladolid debate. This was a debate between Catholic intellectuals about the acceptable tr...
