Sam Harris

While promoting atheism, Harris examines spirituality by means of considering philosophy, neuroscience and mysticism rather than displaying tacit disdain for it. He warns of the threat that fundamentalist religion poses to human progress and survival

Time to introduce myself.

Hi All.Thought I would give you a quick introduction and a little background.I am from South Africa and currently live in the city of Durban. I am a former Jehovah's Witness who left the organization, and religion altogether, after I decided to do independent research into the JW doctrines and Christianity as a whole. Of course this is something that is frowned upon in the JW organization. You are not allowed to question and will be disfellowshipped if you do. In a nutshell, you are a…See More

Hi Robin,

Welcome to A|N. I hope that you find this site useful and rewarding. Its growing by leaps and bounds. One way to find a friends and conversations on the site is to peruse the groups, look for topics that you are interested in, and join the groups.

As someone from South Africa, your presence in the group Conversations on Race, Ethnicity, and Culture would be very welcome. There are also groups for former fundamentalists, Africa, and other topics that you might find interesting.

Once again, welcome and I hope that you enjoy Atheist Nexis.

Welcome to Atheist Nexus with its thousands of good friends.
Your books look good.
Join groups when you can, like the busy discussion group “ORIGINS” (Origins: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion..... ) with its 120 discussions and numerous video films.

One discussion (over 65 posts) is called "Proud to be Atheist". There's much to be proud about because atheists and humanists hold the intellectual high ground and recognise the folly of superstitious god believers for the pathetic nonsense it is.
