Richard Dawkins at Protest the Pope Rally in London Sept2010

Richard Dawkins addresses huge crowd at end of Protest the Pope Rally in London on 18 Sept 2010, to coincide with Pontiff's visit. Other speakers included Terry Sanderson, Geoffrey Robertson, Barbara Blaine, Pragna Patel, Peter Tachell and the hugely impressive Maryam Namazie (unfortunately I only had space for Mr Dawkins). Over 10,000 people turned up to display their contempt for the Pope and his church's intolerant and bigoted views. Our state leaders shamefully kissed his arse - we…See More

Bedraggled refugee from the "Holy" Roman Catholic Church.

Posted on June 15, 2009 at 7:23pm 3 Comments

I am a bedraggled refugee from the "Holy" Roman Catholic Church. Like the vast majority of members of that sordid organization I was born into a strict Roman Catholic famoly, baptized when a baby, and from that moment dragged kicking and screaming to Mass every Sunday and suffered 12 years under the Jesuit Priests. I was told I have to believe OR ELSE. I was too scared to question the doctrine of the Holy Trinity which I found stupid. The Jesuits used a thick leather strap to "encourage" you to… Continue

Please consider joining my new group HERCULANEUM: A PLACE FOR MEN. Herculaneum is a group where men can discuss and explore the ideas, goals, demands, ethics, sexuality, and nature of manhood and masculinity. It is a place where we are free to be ourselves, and discuss the issues most important to our identities as men.

I used to ride, too. I was a pony club instructor and also taught dressage, showjumping and cross country privately. When I was in London I worked briefly at a stable in Kensington retraining ex-racehorses as hacks. I called myself the crash-test dummy of Hyde Park. ;-) I worked with the horses at taught riding out at Cherrabah Resort, just outside Warwick, too. Chester looks like a great horse. My 16.2hh chestnut thoroughbred was called Mate. Nice to meet you Robert. I'm heading down your way next week for lunch at George's Paragon Restaurant, then out to Canungra overnight and up to O'Reilly's the next day for lunch. Too action-packed for catching up this time, but maybe we'll meet one day, eh?

Hi Robert! Thanks for friend request. I wonder if you'd like to join us in the Aussie, Kiwi and South Pacific Atheist Group here on AN. We're pretty active and have recently been making a lot of noise about the appointment of Jesuit priest, Fr Frank Brennan, as chair of the National Human Rights Consultation. You can see my posts on behalf of the group here if you're interested.
