I can't believe nobody's joined this site. Out of 3,000 or so members, there must be law enforcement, right? All you got so far is a wannabe (but don't worry - I'll be a has-been before too long!). Love the smokes, too, and the coffee. Still love the beer (stopped for 7 years once, but for all the wrong reasons).
Your daughter is beautiful - she looks headstrong and capable. You can see pictures of my kid on Teter's home page (my husband). A couple pictures of me, but that's not really what I look like now - I seem to be a woman of many faces. Hang with me - I'll get there (hopefully by January).

Hi Robert. The AtheistNexus page isn't working properly, so I couldn't reply to your thread about your relationship with your daughter. I'm an infantry officer, but Canada is very different than the US in terms of pervasive religiosity, so I don't know if I can really put myself in your shoes. Make time to stay important to your daughter. Teach her the value of critical thinking. Discuss your atheism with her in very clear terms. I notice that American theists are usually bigoted and ignorant about atheists; Canadian theists generally are not, because they all know an atheist who doesn't shy away from being called an atheist. Take heart from the fact that 25% of Americans under age 25 list themselves as "no religion". This percentage is only going to increase. And join the Atheists in Foxholes! Cheers.

I was not in a foxhole like you. I would not want to live what you must have lived. But I had a different (and less) front to fight. In my war, we pushed buttons, much easier, more sterile, more serene, and maybe much more awful when you watched it destroy a city on CNN after launch.

I don't know what I was doing over there. But more, I don't know what folks like you were doing over there. It’s all crazy. Someday we’ll evolve past all this nonsense.
