"Hey Doc I bet most assume you are male in our stinking sexist civilization.
I have seen possibly two, at least one study supporting that proposition. There is a contributor/author on AN who writes about breaking with her super christian cult…"
"That makes intuitive sense (at least to reason-based atheists). Do you know of any study to support it? That, too, might be considered a bit ground breaking, even after the one demonstrating the decreased intelligence of FoxNews viewers."
"I think it is also true that rejection of religious indoctrination is an indication of intelligence. In fact the greater the orthodoxy and cultism of the indoctrination the greater the intelligence required for rejection of same."
I saw your post about raising kids in this God soaked society and I just wanted to give a quick summary of my own experiences with this. I have 4 kids, all over 20 now, the oldest 31. I always have only taught them to think for themselves, and to not accept anything on faith. I wasn't an Atheist activist back then, but i was always a non believer. I've been touched by every single one of them coming to me on separate and random occasions, and telling me how thankful they are to have not had ridiculous beliefs forced on them. They each have been able to see for themselves the mental handicap that being raised in such a family has placed on their friends and coworkers. Their free, unencumbered and rational thought, stands out in sharp contrast, even to themselves. I hope this has helped, and welcome to AN.

This busy group has fine discussion, good writing, about 100 science video clips including 10 recent Stanford University lectures on evolution. It seeks to understand the mysteries of the universe and how life and everything began.
