Profile Information

About Me
My personality can be described as down to earth.
I like to be around people who are genuine, fun, and have a good sense of humor.
I’m married with no children and not interested in having them. The reaction I get when I tell people is mixed. Some women just can’t believe that I don’t have the desire for a baby and that I’ll change my mind.
I’ve always been a non-believer. Religion wasn’t a part of my life growing up but I was briefly exposed to it as a teenager. That was enough for me. As a child I loved art, astronomy, earth science and always felt a connection to nature.
Organic gardening is one of my favorite hobbies. I love to grow flowers and vegetables. My patch of grass is slowly being transformed into flowerbeds and a vegetable garden.
Photography is a huge part of my life. I loved taking pictures as a teen and went on to work in a photo-lab printing film and doing camera sales for 10 years. As much as I loved what I did it was time to move on. I had enough of the corporate world and really wasn’t interested in moving up into management. I wanted to work for myself doing something I loved. With the support of my husband I began photographing weddings. I’ve been doing that for 5 years now and couldn’t be happier. When I’m not doing that I love to shoot landscapes, flowers and of course my pets Stella and Spot.
I love to travel and see new places especially our National Parks.
When it comes to having fun I like to go to concerts or live shows preferably rock or metal. I also like to get together with friends for poker parties.
In the last year I’ve taken a huge interest in politics and current events and enjoy reading blogs about those topics. I have started getting involved locally which has been an interesting experience. I consider myself independent but embrace libertarian philosophy.

Greetings, Roach! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.

Hi Roach,
Thanks for replying. I've been passionate about photography for 20 years. In the early 90s, when my kids were very young, I ran a part time photography business out of my house to supplement my income. Mostly senior portraits and weddings. I loved doing it and would like to transition out of my corporate job and into shooting full time. I was curious if there was a large enough market for alternative / secular weddings and if you were targeting that group in your marketing. Do you have a business web site? I'd like to check out your site.

Hi,
I'm interested in your wedding photography. Did you specialize in non-traditional secular weddings? How do you market your business?
Thanks
Tom

Good morning!
You mentioned liking gardening. Quite a few people on Atheist Nexus mention their gardens as well - so maybe we can get a group going. I added the group "godless in the garden" to see if there was interest. It may take some time to get a critical mass going, but it's a start.
