Soliciting personal narratives

Posted on August 28, 2009 at 2:12pm 4 Comments

Hello to all,

In my conversation with parents at the Amazon.com Parenting Forum that has been ongoing for 18 months some facts are starting to emerge. By comparing the statements parents make with regard to forcing faith on their children against personal narratives posted on web sites like exchristian.net we can see that parents are clueless about how the process is affecting their children. Conversely, children are not sophisticated enough to formulate arguments so anything they try to… Continue

New gambit -- Petition to end forcing faith on children

Posted on August 6, 2009 at 11:04am 28 Comments

This week I created a petition on iPetition which asks people to support the end of childhood religious indoctrination. The petition is a tool to excite interest and get people thinking about one of the most profound changes we can envision to fortify the rights of children around the world and to more carefully define the role of parents.

My vision of children recognizes them as persons having rights and among the most important of these is the right to not have their precious minds… Continue

Hi Richard, Thank you for "friend requesting" me. There are so many groups out there, that it is hard to know which ones to join. It helps when people welcome the newbies to the group. I hope to make more friends here, as time goes on. :)

Richard, please consider joining my new group HERCULANEUM: A PLACE FOR MEN. Herculaneum is a group where men can discuss and explore the ideas, goals, demands, ethics, sexuality, and nature of manhood and masculinity. It is a place where we are free to be ourselves, and discuss the issues most important to our identities as men.

I have already started two discussions to get us going: How do we define manhood in the 21st century? and Rites of Passage: A Lost Ritual?.

This is a private group, and discussions can be viewed by members only. Membership is open to men only. Please check it out.

Highly commendable, the work that you are doing.
Too many children get a nonsensical religion forced on them when young, either by parents, school, or synagogue, church or mosque etc. I have written much about this.
Welcome to the group "Origins" that you have just joined.
