Hi Ramon! As well as hosting the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.

I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.

Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.

Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.

Just as the 10th Festival of Pacific Arts was about to get underway in the United States Territory of American Samoa, it was decided by the American Samoa Dept. of Health, the Pacific Arts Festival organizing comittee, and the Secratary of the Pacific Arts Commission that it would be a good Idea to include Condoms in the safety kits to be issued to incoming guests of the pacific Arts Festival in Pago Pago American Samoa.

No One had a problem with this as it was intent upon prevention of Veneral Desease, as well as the dreaded HIV AIDS,
Which has reached our Islands of Paradise.
The Bishop of the Local Catholic Dioces, or whatever it is called, decided that Condoms were against the word of "his" God, and that they should not be allowed in the Safety Kits.
So; Here is an old Faggot that most likely never had a piece of ass in his worthless life, who actually succeded in banning the Condoms from the Safety Kits.
Here goes the organized religion again with their horse shit against the poor. Keep the women barefoot and knocked up, and we will be able to keep them in church, and fleece them for their very last dimes!
The Catholic Church, the Old Pope, and his Army of "Child Molesting Queers," need to be dealt with in a manner befitting.
Thanks for the vent;
Doug Harrington

Hey Ramon;
I am in American Samoa.
My wife is a Filipina, {Eleanor}
There is quite a gathering in the Philippino Community here, but mostly all Catholics.
I have a site, and am a friend of Kristy in Australia.

We are making an attempt here, not to convert people from the Christian Myth, but to make available to them a place for open dialogue without retribution.
Feel free to visit my Blog, "The New Order of Hawkeyes Divine Deliverance.
I would like you to join my friends list.
Thanks & best regards;
Doug

I've already made a note on the Aussie/Kiwi site saying much the same thing - join one, both or neither as you see fit.

Hi Ramon! I'm Kris from Queensland, Australia. I'm sorry, I didn't realize you'd started a Phillipines group. I've been inviting Philippines members to join our Aussie, Kiwi and South Pacific Atheists Group. Now I know about you, I'll put a note in my group with a link to yours.

Cheers Kris

It is true that many people take the path of religion to lead them out of destructive life styles. It is also true that people can do the same thing without a reliance on faith (you just don't hear about it as much). You sound like a very nice you…

I thought it was utterly brilliant that he said Abbot's offer of a billion dollars for Hobart hospital was immoral! His refusal of such a ridiculous bribe iis one of the first moral acts I've ever seen from a politician. Clearly the man will have a…

I've seen posts about the 50 commandments of jeebus put out by xtians that cite chapter and verse and you really don't need a commentary to go along with them. Boy it sure does kill the whole GOP/Tea Party platform.

From the article Tommy cited. "However, religious commentators have criticized Hawking's theorizing, saying he can never hope to explain what is essentially unexplainable." Well doesn't that kind of invalidate their own "god" theory then? ;p

Anybody else read it? I love the basic premise, and being an atheist means I can appreciate the mythology and not get bent out of shape about the multiple deities.

Wyoming is better than the southeast, from what I've seen. It's still a solid red state, though. My big point was that there are no cities. The closest it has are Cheyenne and Casper, each of which are around 50,000 people. The entire state barely…

I was in Panama City this past weekend, but I didn't have any free time. I was there for my brother-in-law's pinning. He was promoted to Major in the Air Force. The promotion ceremony was full of God and Jesus references, and the invocation was give…

I saw a video, or a blog post once that listed all the uncomfortable and illogical things that a person must do, according to Jesus' own words, in order to follow him. The list included hating your family, selling all your possessions, etc. I'm pret…

It's been almost a full day, and none of them have responded. I'm hoping that's the end of it, and they have bowed to my superior sophistry. ;-)
