I think the other characters saw Angel and Angelus as two separate entities, Angel wasn't wholly responsible for Angelus' actions because Angel had a soul. A soul meant he was good, and having one meant he could be forgiven for any of…
Very liberal, misanthropic, and slightly geeky life-long Memphian looking to meet like-minded people for rational discussion and social interaction that doesn't involve the other party invoking their god(s) every 5 minutes or trying to convince me that I just need to be shown 'the way' so I don't spend eternity in hellfire. I first started questioning my belief in God when I was about 10 and remained a closeted agnostic/atheist for most of my teen years. I had a brief relapse into religion in my late teens in a silly attempt to appease some overly religious friends who constantly pushed their beliefs on me and had intentions of ostracising me unless I 'came to Christ'. I'm still ashamed of my cowardice in that situation but thankfully, after about 3 months of half-hearted Christianity thanks to the church's (and my "Christ-like" friends') repeated hypocrisy in the name of God, I snapped out of my haze and I've been an out-atheist ever since. I've become quite vocal about my lack of belief in the hopes that those around me who might be hiding their atheism won't feel so alone and won't go along with a religion out of fear the way I did.
Also: I like books. I cook and bake. I enjoy theatre, both as a performer and as an audience-member. I love politics...a lot. I'd like to learn to play many different instruments. I play video games. I'm trying to learn 3 languages other than English. I like to paint and do crafty things. I can't stand olives or pickles.
I hope I've given an adequate and interesting description of myself, I hate this section on websites.
Greetings, Rachel! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home. BTW, I'm Bi and poly so I won't let the group be anti-gay.
Hey, I'm sorry that I did not include a personal message in my friend invite, but I hit the wrong button. Although I am highly computer literate; I am fairly new to the social network scene, hardly ever utilizing my MYSPACE account, and never creating a FACEBOOK. I am exited about Nexus. I never imagined being able to communicate with so many people that think like we do! It's like, aside from gays- we are the last minority, yet we are in the shadows. It's surreal, many of us do not mention this to family members, because they ostracize us. It is amazing that our modern "enlightened" society is still held in the grip of organized religions. Talk to you soon.
Giuseppe
Hi to Rachel Stone in Memphis and welcome to Atheist Nexus. We are pleased to welcome you here among the sensible, rational people of this world who, like you, recognise religion for the superstition and fraud that it is --- and that God and gods are nothing but fictions inside people's heads.
