Yes, you are correct that Obama does know we're not a Christian nation (thankfully!)...but I created the Facebook group as a direct response to one titled "Tell Obama we're a Christian nation". So it's more of a "back atcha" and group for like-minded individuals than something we actually need to do.

Yes, I'd invested all of myself into Christianity. I was studying to be a minister or a missionary during my undergraduate. My relationship with god was the defining characteristic of my life. To lose that has made me feel like I've lost my way, or my purpose.

Of course, it's not all bad. Most of it is pretty amazing; not being shackled anymore to this insanity that was my faith. But I have yet to find anything else that can respond to that oceanic feeling we humans have. I'm still evaluating whether it's important or even wise to have something that huge directing one's life. Who knows?

Thanks for welcoming me to Atheist Nexus. It feels a little lonely out there sometimes, as you probably know.
