Maybe I'm crazy but think about this. The most incredible, powerful, useful thing in the world is free and it is built on on open source. The internet! Maybe if we did away with copyrights and patents, everything would bloom like it has. Maybe instead a company holding a patent for a drug at three hundred dollars a bottle we let competition bring the price down. It would cause losses for the the powers that rule us, but it would create competition so companies would try harder to…

I'm a computer guy. I should have known, but I was totally blindsided tonight. I have an amazon.com account. I have in the past bought a few foreign movies and 2 computer books. Haven't bought anything in over a year. About a year ago I came a vegetarian. When I went to amazon tonight the first 2 rows of suggestions were vegetarian and vegan books. Joseph P said… Heh, thanks. I sometimes sense that my mind makes connections more easily than most. I compare it to the connections people make when they're high on pot (which I've never used, actually), only hopefully not delusional, since it's not caused by the use of mind-altering chemicals. My mind also crunches numbers effortlessly and rapidly, so I like to hope that the connections are associated with a causal chain ... somehow related to the mathematical ability.
Admittedly, I haven't been in voice-of-reason mode as much, lately, mostly due to time constraints. I think my last 5 or 10 contributions to discussion threads and such have been more on the snarky side, in keeping with the theme of my standup material. That's what's constraining my time, actually. I'm done procrastinating and am finally getting my material down cold and am starting to set up regular practice runs/performances.
And actually, I am crazy ... clinically speaking. I'm just not delusionally crazy. The bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder are relatively non-volatile forms of insanity.
In my experience, most psychologists/psychiatrists are a bit crazy. ^.^ I think it's the emotional issues of their childhood which raise most people's interest in the field. I've taken several psychology classes, myself, giving me just enough knowledge to be dangerous. I have a lot of respect for people who turn their study of self-discovery into something more philanthropic.
this is why i want to be your friend
