"This may sound a bit "strange" coming from an atheist, but I also recommend that you read the Bible...with an open and critical mind. Most who read that collection of ancient fairytales spiced up with a smidgen of historical distortions do…"
"how did we get here?
1. Why are we here?
Inasmuch as we are consciously self-aware as well as aware of others, we ARE here, unless you happen to subscribe to one of the "all is mind" philosophies, which I do not. However, as…"
" Sorry Magic, I can only confirm that Loren participates in Nature or God, a Lefora group.
We know the answer and have done for years. The whole thing is a con plagiarised from earlier Egyptian beliefs.
"Wow...it's been almost 8-10 years since I've seen/participated in this group originally on MSN groups. How is everyone? Is it still active? Hope you found the answer you were looking for. You have been reading about Him all this time...now…"
"Thanks, Joan, and hope you are well. This group should grow and grow since the subject is hands down my favorite; I just didn't realize it. From earliest years, I dodged Sunday school because I knew more about the Booble than the lay…"

"I do my laundry Sunday mornings at a nearby washateria, not bad as these establishments go. Only problem: the TV comes on when the automatic door unlocks, letting me in, and I have to do my laundry to the accompaniment of a pasty-faced, plump,…"
"New to the group. Finding errors and just plain nonsensical parts of the Bible was one of the main reasons I was able to leave Christianity. Having had moral reservations to the god of the Bible and having read about historical inaccuracies I…"
"I do not disagree, Joseph. The social net established by that great Altruist, the very rich Franklin Delano Roosevelt, was long over due, and the Philosophy of Objectivism would have no room for such governmental interference in the affairs of the…"
"The kind of altruism that Rand attacked was the sort that sacrificed a greater value for a lesser one, which on many levels makes no sense whatsoever. However, that is not the totality of what altruism is. Helping the less fortunate through…"
"I agree with Neil. The only "historical evidence" we have for a "real" Jesus is written documents that have been under total control by the "established" religious authorities since the advent of the Christian…"
"#15: War in heaven!
15. Heaven is supposed to be a perfect place. Yet, it experienced a war (Rev. 12:7). How can there be a war in a perfect place and if it happened before why couldn't it happen again? Why would I want to go…"
I waS baptized and raised in a liberal Presbyterian Church, but became a born-again Christian at age 13 and 18 (if at first you don't succeed...). I then studied for the ministry in the Free Methodist Church, a small, fundamentalist flavor of protestantism. Also being a little bit homosexual, I had a few conflicts between my sexuality and my faith, so I left it for almost two decades, calling myself an atheist, but it was not out any intellectual determination. At 40, I had a "spiritual re-awakening, and for the next 20 years, I practiced a liberal evangelicalism. After turning 60, I began to question the foundations of faith, and slowly determined I could no longer support faith with anything approaching reason and logic, so I finally "came out" as an unrepentant atheist, well-established and unashamed!
