You got some brass balls my friend, wanting to confront all of that ignorance by yourself. I'd like to do the same thing but I'm fairly certain that here in Hampton Roads in Va. it would never happen. It seems funny to me though. This area…

American Atheists is a nationwide movement which defends the civil rights of nonbelievers, works for the separation of church and state, and addresses issues of First Amendment public policy.

Paul T. Bennethum commented on Cose2Cose Productions's blog post 'Arguing with a Christian'
The Christians I've spoken with are, for the most part, programmed that way by their parents and other authority figures. Belief has been jammed into their heads and rammed down their throats since they were little kids with fear being the lube…

Paul T. Bennethum replied to Dr. Terence Meaden's discussion 'Did Mars have a giant ocean of water 3.5 billion years ago? And did life appear there?' in the group ORIGINS: UNIVERSE, LIFE, HUMANKIND, AND DARWIN
Discussions like these always bring me back to the kinds of questions I have always asked man-in-the-sky people. If I give them that a god is real and follows the dictates of the Bible or Quran then why isn't our solar system just teeming with…

Dustin Scott commented on Paul T. Bennethum's blog post 'Why such a difference?'
Judaism isn't necessarily a monotheistic religion, it's something no body tends to acknowledge. Christianity has gotten quite skewed from its origins, originally each local church having their own stories or books on Christianity bickering…

I got a little thin-skinned about the reference to "dead soldiers". Then I remembered that even whack-jobs have 1st Amendment rights so it's ok. I know those folks are out to lunch permenantly anyway.

It's such an ignorant, backward place. The people have been told for centuries that if they pray everything will be alright. Successful countries don't have tribes, they have communities.

Last Year

Back in good ole' 2009 I was not in the United States of America where fortunately everybody is allowed to believe or not believe whatever they choose (for the most part anyway). No, I was in Afghanistan, the home of the Taliban, Al Quieda and another whole slew of groups that think that the world would be just fine if everybody on it would be one thing only, a muslim. It's a shockingly poor country with very few natural resources and the people are as backwards and ignorant as their ancestors a few centuries past. That is what formal religions do to folks who would otherwise be well-adjusted and productive people. In this case it turns them into what I like to call Islamofascists. They want to use their religious belief to forcibly convert everybody and kill anyone that refuses to join their ignorant group or that they think they are superior to, like the Jews. I just hope my brother and sister military people can keep finding those nutjobs and putting them out of Our misery.

Why such a difference?

I am not a biblical scholar. I can't even say I've read much of the Bible since it's so boring and illogical. But with what I have read and have picked up from others who quote it in different areas I have been in I noticed something wild. I never even thought about it until one of my favorite comedians, Lewis Black, made mention of it. Did you notice the fundemental change in the man-in-the-sky between the Old and New Testaments? It's like night and day! In the Old Testament he was (as…

God's Song (That's Why I Love Mankind) by Randy Newman

"Cain slew Abel Seth knew not why

For if the children of Israel were to multiply

Why must any of the children die?

So he asked the Lord

And the Lord said:

Man means nothing he means less to me

Than the lowliest cactus flower

Or the humblest Yucca tree

He chases round this desert

'Cause he thinks that's where I'll be

That's why I love mankind

I recoil in horror fro the foulness of thee

Ok, so God is all-powerful, huh? All-seeing, all-knowing and the creator of everything that is, ever was or ever will be, do I hear you Christians, Jews and Muslims right? Ok, then riddle me this Batman! If your god is so completely perfect, then why did he create other life forms (humans to be exact) that are so incredibly faulty? And as you claim, they are in his image to boot! Then, to make matters even crazier, this kooky diety of yours blames each human being for their own faults (calling… Continue

Hi Paul. That's a well-written truthful piece about the Islamofascists. Welcome to this friendly meeting place where freethinking atheists recognise that gods are phoney and religion is a fraud used to control people;
and how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and more.
