I must be slow, dim witted, stupid, or something!!!!
Everytime there are big world problems happening, the religions come out in full force wanting people to go to church!!! Especially mor(m)ons & j. witnesses!!!!! Don't any of these brain dead dimbulbs realize that if going to church, praying, & religion had all the answers.....we wouldn't have all these things keep on happening!!!!!????

All the disasters, child kidnap/rape/murder, devastating disease, starvation, birth defects, to name a few, would all be solved permanently.....wouldn't they, if there was a loving gawd who answered all the prayers for the serious stuff??? Naw......I guess praying to win the next game, or get the dream date is more important!!!!!

Meanwhile all the praying to save a tiny baby from cancer is nothing but wasting time, not to mention the miserable torture of chemo therapy that may, or may not, work!!!!! Loving, benevolent, all powerful gawd......gimme a break!!!!

Religion, church, or prayer, will not change what was, what is, or what will be!!!! Nature is in charge of things, not an invisible being hiding in the sky, & nature doesn't give a damn about anything, good, bad, or otherwise!!!

S'cuse me.....I need to do some serious barfing now!

Patricia, I am so grateful to have you for a resource. It seems my aggressive CA is the cause for further treatment. So, can you fill me in on how you experienced Chemo, what did you experience, how did you manage it? Did you have change in stress levels? What about fatigue?

Sorry to bombard you with questions, but you are expert as far as I am concerned.

I'm feeling great, in fine spirits, just a little anxious about this next phase.

Fondly, Joan

Hi Patricia. Thanks for the friend add.

I knew Joan was due for cancer treatment, just didn't know when. She sounds in very good spirits.

Well, since you were trying so hard to post that, I put it up on your behalf with attribution.  Hope you don't mind.

You having technical difficulties, Patricia?  I've seen you try to comment on my "Phone Call" post a few times, and it doesn't seem to be working.  Very odd!

BTW: I like cats, but I cannot handle them without breaking out into a sneezing and coughing fit, lasting sometimes for an hour or more.
Had a run-in with a computer full of cat fur, nearly choked on a fur-ball.

Hi Patricia, glad you can find comfort in an uncaring non-cognitive universe.
Something theists cannot.
I too find that I'm comfortable with just having experienced being part of nature.
I also, cannot understand why anybody would want a skydaddy figure, nor an eternal existence.
I do have a few devout clients, though all my close friends are fellow atheists. I just think religion has had it's day and it has outlived it's usefulness.
Secular Humanism is the way to a better future for all.

Thanks!

Graeme

Not believing in an afterlife does not mean i am a "sad' person.

I work in healthcare in a long term care facility and I deal with death on a regular basis. About a year ago the opportunity arose for me to take a palliative care course through my work.  I enjoyed it for the most part. It dealt with topics such as end of life care, pain relief and addressing the spiritual needs of different individuals based on their religious beliefs. There was one instance however that was decidedly unpleasant, and unfortunately really overshadowed the rest of my time in the…See More
