About Me
Lesbian , professional, atheist

I had questions from a very young age about god. I asked my "preacher" several and was never satisfied with his answers. I expected to leave the conversation with a life changing explanation that would put to rest any thoughts of questioning god. I was brought up in a southern baptist church. I also attended a christian school. I always felt out of place and kind of dark. I knew for some reason I didn't belong. It took me a very long time to be able to question inward and outward without feeling the overwhelming endless guilt, paranoia, and being terrified of burning in hell. I saw all of the hypocritical actions by "deacons, youth leaders, teachers, " etc. I have never felt free to discuss my beliefs with many people. It's hard to keep all of your feelings that make up so much of your being inside. I now feel I can at least speak openly and honestly somewhere without being judged like christians do all so well.

Greetings, Pam! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.

Pam, I live in Green Mountain, so we're almost neighbors. Do you work in Mitchell or Yancey Counties? I work in Asheville. Might run into you some day.

Pam,

Thanks for making me your friend! I am pleased that you picked me. I read your summary above and churches condemning gay people has always been one of my major peeves with religions. I speak up to politicians every chance I get.

I am somewhat consumed with a major project, at this time, and consequently have not been participating at AN very much, but I will be back. Count on it!
