About Me
Life long atheist and a Bright, but not your typical atheist because I strive to not believe in anything. This makes me at odds with Humanism and others who have a strong philosophical viewpoint. I think beliefs are the real problem in our society because the basic premise is based on how the world should be and not how the world actually is. I'm an anti fundamentalist including political, cultural and philosophical fundamentalists. Reality Activist. Always looking for other atheists with a high awareness level. Time Management: caring for two kids (one in college and one a new college grad.), bowl 3x wk, softball 4x week (all year), dance 2x mo, reality activism all the time, friend support as often as I can. Priorities: Family, Health, Reality Activism, Friends, Play. Physical Health Level: approximately the same as an average 35 year old. Augment my activities with weight lifting. Sex preference: open minded, but straight, have outgrown dating, but available on a limited basis. Dislikes: Women who frequently communicate on an emotional level while verbally communicating on an irrational level. People who frequently judge base on their beliefs but not on their critical thinking conclusions. People who use their beliefs for an excuse for bad behavior.
Advice based on experience: Beware newly converted Atheists! Atheists are not of like minds and far too many are fundamentalists of one kind or another. Don't exchange one belief for another. Beliefs breed prejudices. Use your own critical thinking skills to perceive reality accurately and base your behavior on your OWN conclusions. Just make sure that your premises are based on an accurate perception of reality. Be aware that atheism doesn't protect you from the negative cultural influences of religion. Many cultural values are inherently religious.
My view on intelligence: True intelligence is based on one's basic life premise. A person who doesn't use his/her attributes to further the adjustment of the human race to the ever changing environment is too ignorant to apply our knowledge of how we got here to how to further adjust as we and our environment changes. It doesn't matter how much knowledge they have; how fast they can conceive, or/and how successful they are. Their existence works against the evolution of the human race. It may be true that each individual needs to adjust to survive, but there comes a point where individual survival is no longer an issue. This is when one should give back to society, expanding society's reservoir of understanding by using the unique knowledge, understanding and creativity of the individual.
In this profile, my age is off a bit because I don't like giving my exact age for security reasons...but activity-wise, it is accurate.

Major breakthrough with HIV......
In Germany, a man with cancer and HIV was given a bone marrow transplant from a donor with a "rare HIV-resistant genetic mutation". The patient has been free of HIV for two years. I wonder with the help of Stem-cell research if we could take advantage of this knowledge.

Moving Beyond Atheism

Posted on June 14, 2010 at 12:51pm 0 Comments

How can one move beyond atheism, you ask? Well, one would have to understand the mindset of the believer and how it evolved. We are all believers. Atheists may not believe in a god, but they believe in other ideas that also don't have a realistic premise. That is the keyword, premise. One can have a very complex mind and dwell in reasoning that is beyond reproach, but is the premise realistic?. For example, do you believe that all people are good? Is that realistic? My contention is that… Continue

Healthcare certainly is not one of republicans favorite topics. I can't believe that it is the achilles heal tho. Republicans lie, cheat and steal and oh yea, kill their way to power which ultimately suppresses the voters again and again. I think the achilles heal maybe though themselves. They always alienate themselves. Maybe one day people won't allow themselves to be exploited by their tactics.
