Your Karma Ran Over My Dogma

Posted on January 8, 2012 at 12:00am 3 Comments

An interesting thing occurred after I returned to the Land of the Rising Sun. I had been in Tokyo a couple of days, and jet lag had seemed not to be too much of an issue, thanks to napping at the appropriate times. However, after running about Harajuku with a friend of mine and visiting Oedo Onsen afterwards, I was a content and drowsy foreigner. We each paid the fee for all the wonderfulness that was the Old-fashioned Edo village inside the bathhouse, on the way out. We tossed on our shoes and… Continue

Of Extinct Fauna and ESL

Posted on September 27, 2011 at 3:00am 2 Comments

I enjoy teaching English to my classes, here in Japan. I've been working on getting a project ready for one year of students which I hope they'll enjoy and learn from.

They're reading a story about the Kakapo, a flightless parrot-like bird in New Zealand. The Kakapo is an endangered species that people are working hard to save. O, hai!  Welcome to Cat-land!  Pull up a cushion, curl up, have a pinch of 'nip. My Pumpkin cat wants to get in my lap and welcome you, too, but he's a dreadful typist, so I'll just greet you for him.  I don't know where Jerry-cat is; they were growling at each other a few minutes ago.  Poor Jerry is afraid of everything.  I adopted both of them just a few months ago, and they're still adjusting.

Meowy Catober!

It looked like we were going to get some rain here today - and some places did get rain - but for the most part, it looks like it fizzled out. And yeah, VERY good excuse for some ice cream!!! ;) Hope you have a great week!
