Ok, that sounds good. Thanks for the discussion so far. But real quick, may I ask you this question: What is the inverse of the statement "I don't believe in God?" Seems there should be an inversely…Continue

Not sure where else to put this, so... Since I tend to have knee-jerk reactions, I won't post my thoughts about this right now, except to say I'm mad... and disappointed. I think Jon utterly and…Continue

I highly reccomend this: http://www.amazon.com/Nasa-Voyager-Space-Sounds/dp/B002N7R16E It consists of the electromagnetic recordings of the planets, as recorded by Voyager, transcribed into audio. It is also available on Itunes, if you're…

As someone with only an Ed D, I'm also a non-physicist. Reading the lead article in March 2012 Discover, it seems Julian Barbour's decision to leave academia and make a living as a translator in order to pursue his non-mainstream ideas was…

I know, right? Surprised me, quite frankly. I mean, it's probably not an entirely accurate representation of what it might have sounded like if sound waves could've traveled within a medium from it (I imagine it'd be a hell of a lot…

Radio Astronomy... "Sounds" of the Universe

I've asked before, but never seem to get anywhere...Whenever I watch shows like "The Universe" and "How the Universe was Made" and "Through the Wormhole" and so on, they always mention, and sometimes play, sounds from different objects in space. I remember one episode playing the sound file of what a black hole might sound like.I'm not completely sure of the process to get the sounds (you can't hear a scream in space, after all), but I think it has something to do with converting radio waves or…See More

I don't think it is here, in BC at least. Kits for home brewing beer and wine are widely available from most grocery stores. Brewing and selling is probably illegal without a business license... distilling hard alcohol or moonshine may be…

After so many decades of prohibition, it would just really bug me to see the government make any sort of mandatory licensing just to grow a personal amount, like 1-3 plants in a fish tank sized enclosure for example. I would compare it to…

I'd probably support legalization, but I can't stand the idea of any government having to issue permits or licenses to grow or smoke it. I wouldn't have room to grow my own in my tiny apartment, and the way it works now is super…

In your garden. And it's legal. Imagine if tomatoes were illegal and you had to grow them out of your closet or somewhere else to hide the fact that you're growing them?

Thats not true, i grow 6 tomato plants in my garden every summer and have enough tomatoes for my family of 5, my parents, my in-laws, and my neighbors.

Please listen to the song on the webpage (you'll see the sound cloud in the upper right). Now I have no idea if these girls are atheists, but damn, that is an amazing song.

"P.C. Religion" - by Nick Edelstein, sung by Gray Sartin

I played this song with Nick a couple times when I was his rhythm guitarist, but now it's been recorded, and although the mastering's a bit rough, it is freakin' awesome (no, I did not play on this recording... my brother Aaron did do the drums, however, so make sure to listen to them)!

Hmmm, no, unfortunately most of my work only spans a couple of minutes or so. Most music you will find out there won't exceed 3 minutes or so, this is because if it's longer, a separate theme has to be used in order to avoid boring the audience... unfortunately, a separate theme also "breaks" the message or feel of the piece.

I think you're likely going to wind up using two pieces of music in your clip. I can't really think of an alternative.

I'm heading to bed at the moment, but if you want, I can lend you another one of my pieces to tack to the end of that one... if you want. I can upload it tomorrow after work.
