My husband and I both became atheists at the same time. We had been studying apologetics and reading the "New Atheist" books trying to find answers to the "issues" they brought up. Surprise! We ended…Continue

About Me:
Formerly a Christian in the Church of Christ, I realized I was an atheist after spending a lot of time looking for atheist arguments in order to discredit them. After many arguments I could not counter and after reading God is not Great by Hitchens I asked myself what reason I had to believe that wasn't just social pressure, and I found nothing.

Heh, that's hilarious.  Michael Behe's son, Leo, had a similar experience to the one your husband and you had.  For him, it was Dawkins's book, The God Delusion, which I find funny, since I don't consider it to be a particularly good book for counter-apologetics, despite its iconic status.

At least you two both broke free at roughly the same time.  I've heard several rough stories from people who broke free of their indoctrination, while their spouse remained deeply stuck within fundamentalist Christianity.  It tends to cause a bit of a crash and burn for the relationship.
