I can't quite go that far. Although they are obviously 'doing god's work' they are also people. And if humanity has an altruistic trait then everyone has that trait. I wouldn't even pretend to know what percentage of their…

Do missionaries ever go anywhere w/o proselytizing? I believe this is the major point of their aid. Sure they may build a well or give food but it is always, I believe, secondary to their main conversion goal. They are no better than the…

My (former) church, is a fairly liberal methodist congregation and is very active in missionary work. It always involves serving the poor, disabled, homeless, disaster stricken etc. Not once did I see or hear of proselytizing activities beyond maybe…

Craigslist atheism? Fact or Fiction?

I recently posted two responses to a person who wished atheist could be shipped to another planet. (I couldn't agree more. At least I wouldn't have to deal with religo-nuts) he went on to spout more religious garbage. The responses I worded were thought out and made good points. I was flagged before I could read my posting. Has anybody else out there had any luck attempting to post your atheists thoughts? Or am I just beating a dead horse?

I have some friends here in Texas, who support friends of theirs who are missionaries in... wait for it... Italy! Their purpose is not humanitarian at all. They are there to save souls.

Have you looked into the Westboro Baptist Church? If want to see hate spewing, look them up. You can also find their rants on Fox News on YouTube. I get pissed just watching them spew hate. Excellent reference between the Egyptian slavery and the…

Well I think this is a fake. The photo has some distortion around the lettering in the center but not in other places. On the other hand I have seen messed up stuff from the Religious Right; think if this was from Westboro Baptist Church Sunday…

I tried to find a larger one but this was the best I could do. It appears as if this kid actually won a medal from this. I'm going to wager a guess and say that this was not a school project. If it was, this is a messed up school.

Wiley Coyote replied to Morgan Greenwood's discussion 'The Aversion of Certain Courts to Refrain From Non-Theist Witnesses and/or Jurors'
In two states, Arkansas and Maryland, there are provisions by which an atheist's testimony is non-negotiable in court. This is according to the Time article Morgan was talking about.

It would be helpful if you were to expand a bit on your comment/query. Right now, I have no idea what you mean by "certain courts" or how they set about refraining from non-theist witnesses and/or jurors. It is my understanding that…

If you type in atheists oath to search in time magazine the article will come up.

About Me
Freethinking wisconsin heathen looking for others in my community. I'm a huge fan of searching YouTube for bias videos bothe atheist and religious. I believe you can't have a solid opinion until you know both sides of the story. I will admit though, I'm not a subscriber of any religious podcast. Only American Freethought. (plug) if anybody out there has any directions toward a good podcast, let me know. Let's see..... I'm a father of one boy who is 9 months old. I'll put some pictures on later. I work at a bar in the Wisconsin Dells. I guess I can say I've always been a non-believer. I've tried to believe in the past, but it just wasn't for me. There was too much contradictory evidence against religion. I'm a realist and I have an amazing ability to see things exactly as they are. I believe that's one of the signs of a true philosopher. Not that I'm tooting my own horn. If you can take a view, and simplify it to a reasonable degree, you can maintain a level stance on almost anything. I'm not going to go on forever here but I'll say a couple more things about myself. I play guitar in a band out of St. Paul Minn. We do covers of 80's hard rock like Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, UFO, stuff like that. I'm always looking to meet fellow musicians. Ok I'm done for now.
