Any Greenville-area people going to Fort Bragg April 2nd?

http://rockbeyondbelief.com/I just checked the site and it looks like there MAY be a small stumbling block, but barring that issue the Rock Beyond Belief is stated to be taking place April 2nd and I was wondering if there would be people interested in carpooling/convoying down there that Saturday... Plenty of time to think about it, but I just didn't want to drive down there alone!  My wife has a prior engagement that is preventing her from attending…See More

Pitt county schools proposing mandatory "moment of silence" for 2011-2012 school year.

http://www.pitt.k12.nc.us/19871021104028100/site/default.asp There's a survey on here.  Take it and let them know what you think!  Let's keep this proto-religious BS out of our schools and back home/church where it belongs. I'm counting on Atheist Nexus to help me out!See More

It can't hurt to try, and they've gotten results in other such circumstances.  Very best of luck!

Re: the "Moment of Silence," you might want to consider contacting the Freedom From Religion Foundation and let them know what the school system has in mind.  I'm sure they'd be happy to supply both suggestions and support!

Hi Minus1Kelvin, it's good to see other folks in Greenville. We should try to find enough Atheist in this part of the state to form our own group. I know there are several of us here at East Carolina University. Take care. Tony

-1 Kelvin? That's cold, man, really cold. Really, how cold does stuff get in those cryogenic whatever they are called? Liquid nitrogen, right? (Yeah, I watch the science shows but never get the terminology right.) Anyway, it's nice to see others here in Greenville. Congratulations on your marriage and continued success with school!

Welcome to Atheist Nexus with its 8000 good friends.

A useful science-based group to join, with its 125 discussions and numerous video films, is “ORIGINS” (Origins: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion....).
One discussion (over 70 posts) is "Proud to be Atheist".
There's much to feel good about
because atheists and humanists hold the intellectual high ground—far from the mental slavery of superstitious people who submit to a narrow-minded controlling clergy with their imaginary god, heaven and hell.
