Hey Mike,

I grew up in Seattle. Went to high school at Queen Anne, lived in Magnolia. I drove for Gray Top and Far West back in the early '70s. It's a beautiful city but I've only been back for a visit once in the last 20 years. The most noticeable change was COFFEE. LoL. They've completely gone nuts over coffee.

Anyway, just saying Hi. I'll be sending you a friend add request.

Love the Naturalism group, Mike. Please check out the Pantheism group. There are some nice essays there from Ebon Musings.

Ever heard of Nuclear Chess? *evil grin* It's basically the same, except important peices self-destruct when killed- using firechrackers! It's for those that feel anything as sacred as Chess ought not to be taken seriously as a matter of Priciple lol :) By the way, Ever Read The Eight? Great book.

I'm Rickr0ll, and i never stop rolling! Seriously, i don't shut up, so watch yourself. ;)

Nice to see you here Mike. Although we both would rather label ourselves naturalists than atheists, I promise that you will find the community here very diverse and interesting.

Mike Layfield commented on Ajita Kamal's group Naturalism
"(Philosophical) naturalism is the supposition that nature, self-contained and continuous, is the ultimate order of being, and that all meaningful distinctions pertain to facts. Atheism is a logical outcome of a naturalistic worldview. While not all…"

Mike Layfield commented on Ajita Kamal's group Naturalism
"I think I do know what you mean. There is huge psychological benefit in feeling at home in the universe. And the causal web unfolding in spacetime certainly does unify everything including us in a nontrivial way."

Mike Layfield commented on Ajita Kamal's group Naturalism
"Hi Tabitha. The statement that 'we are all one' sounds like what Daniel Dennett would call a "deepity": a statement which is true in the most trivial sense, but false in a profound sense. Yes, we (you, me, slime molds, washing…"

Mike Layfield commented on Ajita Kamal's group Naturalism

Mike Layfield commented on Ajita Kamal's group Naturalism

Mike Layfield commented on Ajita Kamal's group Naturalism
"Hi Jeff and welcome. Names and categories (concepts) are essential to human cognition and language. We can't think, let alone speak without them. I agree that we humans have been loosing our connection to our natural earth which is a shame, but…"
