Greetings, Michelle! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.

Wow, I have been meaning to reply for months now! I moved to Salt Lake City a little over a month ago and finally have a job. It's too bad though, because I thought I'd have a chance to meet you and your husband some time while I was in Washington. Good luck on your building project!

How has Winlock been treating you guys these days? I hope you've been immune to the recent economic woes...

Hi there. Saw the blog, sorry things are not so hot these days. Hooray for 2009! I went ahead and started the ex-mo group, it's at http://www.atheistnexus.org/group/exmormonatheists.

Howdy. I myself tried religion when I was in the 3ed grade. It wasn't for me. First, you had to actually get up early on Sunday. This wasn't even a school day! Then put on your suit and TIE! Then I had to go to Sunday School. That was just not right.
Then to the church service. The guy giving the talk said be good or go to hell. Okay, got it. But how many times did he have to repeat the darn thing?
Well, then when that got old (as it did every time I went) I couldn't look out the windows. They had it blocked with this colored glass. Some had pictures and others just chunks of the colored glass stuck in there.
Then, to top it all off, they actually passed these metal plates around and you had to put money in the thing.
Nope, sorry. After a couple of months, my mother asked if I still wanted to go. I said, "No."
Sigh...my only concern is those who have to go back every week to be reminded to be good..... Makes me think I just kinda gotta watch those people...

Wow, I thought that was a great article! It speaks to many of the feelings I've had. I wonder how many other women are out there, pushing away feelings of inadequacy in order to be accepted at church. Too many, for sure.

That would be great! I haven't done a whole lot on here... I can't imagine it's too difficult to start a group, though? I think it's a great idea, and would love to be part of that.

Come together one and all

Hello fellow atheists!  I have joined this site in an attempt to find other rational individuals, such as myself, and to promote a current charity drive that I am trying to get going for the Oklahoma tornado victims.  I have managed to get many groups from around my area, including the Beyond Belief Foundation to back me on this endeavor.

I am located in Newnan, Ga and have my own atheist group entitled "Coweta County Atheists".  I am currently being backed by Spaulding Co.…

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:28pm 2 Comments

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

War on Christmas in May

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/texas-merry-christmas-bill_n_3312786.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…
