About Me
I am a 36 year old straight single male. I grew up in Chicago and now know that I prefer to live in or around a very large city, at least for the next decade or so. I am an emergency room resident physician and I love my job. My biggest hobbies are exercise, movies and philosophy. My goals are to finish residency and work diagnosing and stabilizing emergency medical conditions in humans, go back to school, have my own lab, learn everyday, have fun, make friends with cool people, chill, challenge, grow and change for the better and earn the freedom to do whatever I think is right for myself. Oh, and I would also like to live indefinitely and plan on being cryogenically preserved, if and when I die. I am an atheist, an egoist and a determinist. I think Republicans and Democrats are both socialists and I long for the day that we are not born into slavery to the Fed or each other. I have zero willful ignorance (faith). Spirit and the soul are simply metaphors. They, like God and the after-life, do not exist in reality, which is all there is. I loathe codependence and value individuality.

Someone Tell Stephen Hawking That Magical Creation Is Impossible, That Nothingness Cannot Have A Characteristic, And That It Is Not Science That Tells Us With Certainty There Is No God

Posted on December 15, 2011 at 6:47pm 11 Comments

Stephen Hawking is great and happens to be correct about there not being a god, as we all know (or think we might, for all you 99%ers), and he is an excellent example of why physicists need to be reminded that they have necessary epistemological foundations to their knowledge and the ability to obtain it. We do not live in one universe of many. There is one universe. It consists of distinct and possibly overlapping expansions. This expansion should be called a sub-verse or mini-verse or…

I Think Therefore I Am: Not The First Of Three Valid And True Axioms

Posted on February 8, 2011 at 11:00pm 68 Comments

The first bit of awareness is not that you are thinking. It is of something. Something in reality. You sense first, then you think. It takes a multitude of sensations before you can have thought, or the manipulation and integration of concepts. As such, the very first statement, if you will, or thought you can make or the base of all cognition, epistemology and therefore philosophy is not 'I think therefore I am', but 'there is something I am aware of'. This entails an existent with identity… Continue

Socialism Sucks!

Posted on February 1, 2011 at 2:30am 66 Comments

Socialism, or collectivism, is a consequence of a more fundamental philosophical mistake. This mistake is the opinion that you do not have a moral right to your own life, that you owe part of your life to others. This idea is called altruism, which is mistakenly thought to be a moral position. Well, the principle of altruism, if you wish to actually think about it, is one of self-sacrifice, that it is moral to sacrifice your life to others. This should be clearly distinguished from benevolence,… Continue

Immortal Volitional Robots Need Morality.

Posted on January 27, 2011 at 11:58am 16 Comments

Immortality would not necessarily preclude the need for morality. There is no logical need for the futility of morals for an immortal. Why can an immortal volitional robot not choose that breathing clean air, while maybe not necessary, feels better than traveling to the moon without a space suit? Maybe reminiscing by the beach on a yacht on a sunny day is worth the money earned while providing medical care to mortals or teaching philosophy and better than hanging out in a trailer while watching… Continue

Have you looked into the group Physicians Committee for Responsible MEDICINE (PCRM) ?  It is mostly vegetarian or vegan.  Thought you'd fit in well now!  Have you heard anything bad about dairy, besides acidity?  Just read The China Study and it swears that cow's dairy makes us diseased.  Quit milk because of its acidity, but still love my nonfat yogurt.

Michael - you being a physician are you open to helping me with a problem I have?  It's regarding autoimunity, diet, aching joints and sensitve teeth... : )  I don't want to have a winge - LOL - I just am really interested about what's going on with it, in a physiological way - I know that biochemistry is really complex - but I'm having some strange results that I don't understand - I have a theory and wondered if you might be knowledgable about it?

I love the way you think.  A famous ancient Chinese philosopher (statesman) said something about the best statesman being the one who barely rules or changes anything...laissez faire!  Maybe it was Sun Tzu.
