The Ledge (2011)

I heard about this movie while listening to an interview with the writer/director on a podcast called 'The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe.' The description given on IMDB: A police officer looks to talk down a young man lured by his lover's husband to the ledge of a high rise, where he has one hour to contemplate a fateful decision.  I don't want to say too much about it and give anything away, it's really something you just need to watch unfold. And for the love of little turtles, don't watch…See More

About Me
I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, but the questions I had that no one could ever answer and the hypocrisy of the religious led me away from organized religion. Lacking an understanding of evolution, the overall concept of a designer god still made sense to me. But once I understood understood evolution, it all steadily fell away. Since then I have learned the value of skepticism and have been trying to develop it.

I honestly can't remember what sparked my interest in teaching science. I know it's fueled for the same reason you've mentioned, making sure at least some students get a decent science education. I know I didn't like science in high school, but I am fascinated by it now. I think if it were presented to teens in a similar way it was presented to me as an adult, more students would be interested in science and there would be a higher rate of science literacy. I haven't decided if I want to teach general sciences or if I want to teach biology. Definitely leaning towards biology, though.

When I go to school to become a science teacher, I will be minoring in art so I might be able to become an art teacher on the side. Who knows.

I heard that my experience at GPRC was similar for other people too, it just zapped the fun out of it. I don't really miss it as much you'd think I would. I don't really have the time or energy to draw anymore.

Wow that's so awesome! The closest I've ever come to being published was when a lady asked me to illustrate a children's book she was writing, but then she never got back to me. I also designed a t-shirt for the summer camp at the Calgary Zoo when I was 14.

I decided to become a comic book artist when I was about 8, and I started drawing some horses. They looked awful, but it's what started it all. At that age I didn't really want to draw graphic novels, I was more interested in the funnies in the newspaper. The first X-men movie was what got me into graphic novels. When I graduated from high school I went to GPRC to work towards my BFA in visual arts, but I didn't even finish the year. It totally took the fun out of it. I want to draw again, but it's not fun anymore. Now when I draw all I can think about is composition and shading, and there's no fun in what I'm doing. I still doodle from time to time, but no works of art.

I have lots of ideas though. My most recent is an early readers book called My Grandparents are Superheroes, and there would be some drawings in there. I don't think I'm good enough at writing though.
