Undergoing heart surgery in the new year

As I discussed with some people here, I have congenital heartblock. As such, I needed a heart pacemaker fitted at the age of 14. The battery life of those implants is limited, so I've needed a total of 4 pacemakers fitted so far. I am 32 now.

I will need a new implant fitted early in 2015 in addition to a lead replacement, involving removing a lead from my heart which was implanted in 1996, and adding a new lead into the heart. This latter procedure is not without risk and carries a…
