Hey Math Geek (if that is your real name)! I'm reminding everyone I can about the freethinkers convention in Fargo Sept 24-25. It's gonna be a blast and I would hate for anyone to miss out because they didn't know!…

This is a late edition, but I think I'll take a stab at this even though I have a limited background in philosophy myself. Beck's assertions about inalienable rights are absurd and pompous at the very least. If he is right in that some God…

That's a great point, Bill. I find a deeper problem, though. A significant number of these rational minds believe that reason is the natural extension of God's "persona". Since one of God's traits is reason itself, then how…

No. Because I believe a great many people need some kind of religion to live in a happy, full life. Atheism provides many people with that same fulfillment that a larger number of people get with religion. I really think that only a segment of…

And they complain we're the ones who are of extreme population control with our belief in personal freedom and reproductive rights.

Like no other existing human enterprise, Anarchism will one day lead its insane followers to start a nuclear war that will destroy us all over some insult to it or Mikhail Bakunin or to the breaking of one its tenets against a stateless society.…

They would go back to worshiping a sky daddy anyway. The majority of people don't crave a life without worshiping something. The majority of humans left behind will probably thank the god they believe in that they miraculously survived the…

Religion is an interesting enterprise, one that promotes violence and death and it comes in various forms. Probably the most lethal one is in the form of the personality cult. Look at the reigns of Stalin and Mao. All they did was usurp the…

Hi Math Geek, and welcome to this friendly meeting place where we recognise that gods are phoney and religions are cunning frauds used to control people;
and how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and more.
