Martin Allen replied to Jezzy's discussion Species-Ism?
"OK, finally time to say something here. Why I chose to become vegetarian (or at least part of the reason): sometimes I would eat a meat-free meal, other times not. Then I started thinking that every time I eat, I have a choice to eat something that…"

Jameer Logan replied to Martin Allen's discussion What is more important to you, morality or belief?
"Morality since its independent of religion. I find it very repugnant of the idea of a god that would allow a murder into heaven because that person believes in his "son" and condemn a non-believer even if they were the kindest person to…"

Martin Allen replied to Jezzy's discussion Unethical Assignment?
"it's a good, reasoned response. I'm sure one day she will look back and realise how wrong it was, but whether that day is any time soon is another matter."

Martin Allen replied to Eric S.'s discussion Does anyone else have as hard of a time typing "atheist" as I do? (P.S. hi)
"Not that anyone's going to be bothered, but no, I don't have a problem typing atheist. Maybe touch-typing helps. Hi anyway. Good luck with the qualifications, and enjoy the site."

Martin Allen replied to Shannon's discussion Graduation
"It sounds really disturbing. Isn't it a little weird that you can have a ceremony that purports to be Christian and Islam at the same time? OK, it's not an overtly religious ceremony, but all the same, to ask for Islamic and…"

Laura Largent replied to Martin Allen's discussion Religion is like a tie
"One could argue the same pointlessness and stupidity of the Stiletto Heel. They are painful, pointless, and make the wearer look like an idiot for wanting to trapse around all day in pain for the sake of fashion. However, women wear them, because it…"

Martin Allen replied to Rucareanu Valentin's discussion Should I take advantage of a nice Christian man?

Martin Allen replied to JOEL FERNANDES's discussion Against drawing mohammad(for a reason)
"Well, I live in a predominantly religious society, teaching English in Indonesia. Personally, I didn't draw Muhammad, on Facebook or anywhere else, as it might have upset some of my friends here and it could have landed me in trouble -…"

Martin Allen replied to Heather's discussion Is there something wrong with an atheist booth at a gay pride event?
"Personally I think it's a great idea. I don't think you can leave lgbt issues out of an atheist group. It would be nice if you could, because it would mean that it wasn't an area of contention with the major religions. But it is an…"

Martin Allen commented on William Hopper's blog post The Myth of Good and Evil: From Hitler to Mother Teresa
"I'm so glad Mother Teresa wasn't nice to you, if that might have kept you on the dark side. Hitler could have done us all a favour by being more openly Catholic. The ambiguity is very distracting. Having to start any discussion with…"

Martin Allen commented on deletedsoul's blog post Evolution of Society
"well put. I'd go further in your point 2. Any reference to "Creator" is clearly not intended to reference the Judeo-Christian god (take your pick from Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Paine etc). And you are too nice to O'Reilly, who…"

If Jesus was the best God could do

Posted on April 14, 2010 at 5:00pm 3 Comments

If Jesus was the best God could do, what a botched job he made of of telling his chosen people of his intentions.

He sent his son to earth to pass on his message in a way that was divisive, elitist and so ambiguous and open to interpretation that all the evils that have followed in the name of (what ‘right-thinking' Christians would call misguided extreme forms of) Christianity that he cannot shirk all…

Yeah, I'm pretty quiet on FB too. I'm always afraid of hurting people's feelings and stuff. It's those really crazy news stories, though, that you just CANNOT keep your mouth shut about that get me into trouble. But thank you again, Martin. You've been very kind!! And it is nice seeing like-minded posts from my new buddies!

Hi
Welcome to Atheist Nexus with its 8800 good friends and discussion groups.
Among the groups, try visiting perhaps the busy group “ORIGINS: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion.....” with its commonsense discussions. You will be welcome.
One is "Proud to be Atheist" (74 posts) seeing that atheists and humanists hold the intellectual strong ground compared with the pathetic superstitions of the god followers. Similarly, “Religion is aberrant, atheism is truth” (44 posts).
