Ms. Downey, I've already voted for you unless I take the advice to vote early and vote often. Brad Pitt? For real? I don't follow the tabloids, so I must have missed something.

Atheist of the Year Vote

I just found out that I am in the running for "Atheist of the Year." If you want to register a vote, please see:

http://www.twiigs.com/poll/Society_&_Culture/46175?results=1

I know I won't beat PZ or Dawkins, but I don't want to be the very least voted for. Please place a vote for me at your earliest convenience.

Thanks Margaret! Despite a cyber-attack on the Convention website this week, sales are going really well - and the extra publicity didn't hurt either! Let us know if you end up in south-east Queensland when you're in Oz - I can probably arrange a speaking engagement for you at Embiggen Books. Their last speaker was Professor Ian Frazer, the scientist who developed the Gardasil vaccine. In any case - if you're in the Brisbane area, let me know and we can catch up. Cheers, Kris

Hi Margaret,

I hadn't thought about going to the FFRF convention. I may possibly go. If so, I'll see you there...

Hi Margaret! As well as hosting the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.

I know that you have a wide contact network, and we'd be most grateful if you could let your atheist friends and colleagues know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.

Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.

Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.

I hope we might see you at the Convention also!

Well done Margaret.
Coming from the UK, it's astounding to me that you have the Commandments stuck outside your courthouse there! Keep up the free thinking. Geoff

From the article Tommy cited. "However, religious commentators have criticized Hawking's theorizing, saying he can never hope to explain what is essentially unexplainable." Well doesn't that kind of invalidate their own "god" theory then? ;p

Anybody else read it? I love the basic premise, and being an atheist means I can appreciate the mythology and not get bent out of shape about the multiple deities.
