I think we should be angry. Keep our anger in check when talking to unreasonable people, so they can see that us rationalists can control ourselves. To me the key is what to do with that anger? Maybe we should use it to move us to do something. Te...
Think about your own worldview to decide if it is free of supernatural or mystical deities, forces, and entities. If you decide that you fit the description above, then you are, by definition, a bright!
American Atheists is a nationwide movement which defends the civil rights of nonbelievers, works for the separation of church and state, and addresses issues of First Amendment public policy.
We are a rational approach to religion, offering atheists, agnostics, humanists, and freethinkers all the social, emotional and inspirational benefits of traditional faith-based churches, but without appealing to tradition or superstition.
For more than half a century, the American Humanist Association has stood as the singular voice of humanism in the United States.
We strive to bring about a progressive society where being “good without god” is an accepted way to live life.
There are several ppl in Dallas who are on AN, but I have never met any of them. There is the Dallas/Plano Atheist Meetup group that meets in different places throughout the metroplex, but I have only been to a few of those. Sometimes I'm too busy, too tired, or there is something on Nova I want to watch (Tuesdays at 7), or I'm broke, etc., so I don't get to go all the time.
There is a group that meets at a bar/grill in Arlington that you might be interested in attending. I've never been, but I can track it down for you, if you wish.
To make it snappier I've shortened that title from the "Atheists, Agnostics, Skeptics, Freethinkers, Secular Humanists and the Non-Religious Kiva Lending Team".

I remember praying and praying asking god for the strength to stop masturbating.

Amazingly, there are bible literalists that believe unicorns did exist and yet we've never found a single fossil of one. These same 'tards, however, disregard the scores of transitional fossils found of humans demonstrating evolution.
You know, you're right. I find it hilarious when people wear black face and put on an uneducated slur! I love it when the gay man is unable to resist pinching little boys' butts! I crack up when the fat cop gets "caught" eating Twinkies! Move over...
Ricky,
If practically all you did from the time you could read was sit from sun up to sundown was rock back and forth and recite the Koran you'd be a flipping crazy fanatic too
This has always blown my mind also. What about Shakespeare, what abo...
Here's an expression I just used in another discussion: "...a cat may hunker down and dash away too late--or in the wrong direction, into the path of another car."
That's got to be a fossil.
When apple trees bear human children instead of apples, I'll consider the question. Until then I am quite satisfied to flatly state: "THERE AIN"T NO SUCH CRITTER'. I really have no need to "offer the option" that I "could" be wrong. Not in this ca...
Right, Easter is the co-opted spring fertility celebration, and christmas is the repackaged winter solstice celebration. We should completely reclaim them. There is no need for religion, but celebrations and traditions enrich our lives. I disagree...
I'm guessing most people here will realize this question is anything but a no-brainer. We've only been king of the hill for a blink. Whether intelligence facilitates a species' survival is very much up in the air. What do you think?
