Hi Lorien,
Nice to see another fellow Canadian. :-)
Howdy Lorien,
So... the "FNF" moniker was mine. Many people think Rudy ("the old guy") said it or made it up, but he didn't. About me, he said, "...he's fat and he's gay, but he's smart." Hehehehehe... I love Rudy. And, yes... My plan is to attend the Reason Rally, though I have no official role and can't yet confirm that I'll be there.
To be honest, I don't find believing in a conspiracy to be unskeptical by definition. Watergate was a conspiracy, yet we all agree it happened. The real 9/11 orchestrators -Al Qaeda- also conspired, yet we all agree that happened.
So atheists who are Truthers aren't unskeptical by definition; it could be that they are on to something - certainly not comparable to the paranormal in that sense.
What worries me is the clear "conspiracist thinking" though. John seems to think that he can simply point out strange points in the official story ("Hey how did this building fall?" "What's this stream of metal?") and then magically think they make his thesis stronger. They don't. Not only do these things, even if they were actually unexplained, not make his thesis stronger, but there actually are perfectly sensible explanations about them, made my competent and qualified engineers.
To dismiss all that and cling to an ideological narrative based on unreviewed research. That's the part that's unskeptical.
Meteor I've never been to. But Sunset is wicked cool. It's our most recently-erupted volcano in the area. Hundreds upon hundreds of volcanos dot the whole area around Flagstaff and Sunset last erupted 950-800 years ago. Left very Hawaii-like lava flows. Plus, if you're into Native history, plenty of that around here as well. Including several ruins.
Yes I really want to study in Canada,it´s such a great country and the universities are sooooo much better than the ones here in Germany.
