Nice. For me the fact that there is no god will always be reason enough to abolish religion. Any set of positives and negatives is just icing on the cake.

A tendency to envision the contemporary world dramatically and apocalyptically as a ‘clash of civilisations’ – most saliently, Christianity and Islam - has been vigorously boosted by our exposure to terrorism and extremism in recent decades. A thoug…

I couldn't agree more, however, you only give part of an answer, certainly religion has no place in the modern world particularly in the USA and the rest of the first world countries in fact religion takes on a positively sinister role in modern soc…

It's positive that you're able to offer at least the visage of something positive that comes from religious belief. I do however agree with you that the negatives outweigh the positives in sooo many ways. The story yesterday about the xian group 'sp…

Why Religion and God are Unnecessary in the Modern World

I was originally going to publish this at Associated Content but they don't give up front payments for opinion articles so I published it there under a non-exclusive license and will publish it else where including my blog.

Introduction
Beliefs in gods is as old as civilization as is religion. But is the belief in god(s) and religion necessary? Does it benefit society or does it harm society? It is my belief that a belief in god(s) and religion are… Continue

Blood Moon Chapters 5-7

Chapter 5
“This is the largest institute for science and sorcery in the world” Yosef said as he, the old man, Wafai, Iosef and two guards walked though a large hallway, Yosef leading the way.
“It is impressive.” Wafai said.
“It certainly is Wafai.”
“How do you know my name? We hadn’t been introduced.”
“Iosif informed me.”
“My hearing is better that humans, I herd the whole massage he sent.
Yosef stopped, the group stopped beh… Continue

Blood Moon Chapter 4 Rewritten

Blood Moon Chapter 4 rewritten
I was dissatisfied with the existing chapters, the story wasn’t bad but the writing was terrible so I rewrote them.

A large muscular man walked though large temple caring a golden goblet wearing only a long white loin cloth. He had long, white curly hair and a long beard. The large man walked to a large throne on the south wall and sat.
The temple floated a thousand miles above the earth with ot… Continue

A man ran though the burnt out remains of a house. His hair brown, his skin tan, his cloths covered in dry blood. “Yemima! Illean!” The man called but no one answered. The man stopped in the middle of the remains he beheld a burned and dismembered corpse of a woman. As he looked at… Continue

“I do apologize to you young man but I can not go with you. I am banished.” The old man said.

Lone Wolf, please let me suggest kindly that the solution to your spelling woes--which are indeed serious to the point of being crippling--is simply to compose on your computer desktop whatever you want to post on a forum like this one, and then, before you upload your writing, check the spelling of every single word you aren't positive is correctly spelled. That way you are bound to catch most, if not all, of the many obvious, unfortunate, and embarrassing errors that seriously undermine the meaning and authority of your writing.

As a person who clearly enjoys writing and sharing his writing with others, you owe it to yourself to observe this time-consuming practice. You would do well to demonstrate your respect for your potential readers, as well as for your own written expression, by taking much greater care with your composition.

It's going to slow you down quite a lot, no question about that, but if you can discipline yourself to seek out and correct all of your errors before you post whatever you have written, your writing will gain considerably in its authority. And, word by word, you will gradually become a better speller. In addition, you will gain the respect of readers who will otherwise dismiss your work as careless and amateurish.

Good luck.

"Free-thinker" was a popular term in the 19th century amongst atheists and I see no reason why it shouldn't be re-activated. It captures the Enlightenment ideals of thinking and investigation without fear or prejudice. For the British amongst us Cha…
