Hi - I'm new to the Nexus - seems great so far! I'm an atheist mom of two little girls (1.5 and 3.5 yrs old). I would love to hear how other rational parents out there are dealing with the overwhelming influence of christianity on so many aspects of life... how do you keep your kids from getting indoctrinated without sheltering them too much? I believe that they need to make up their own minds, of course, because I'd be a big old hypocrite if I didn't, but keeping them safe from the insidious…See More

Among the groups, may I suggest you try the busy group “Origins: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion.....” with its 160 commonsense topics whose discussions rebuff religious nonsense. You will be welcome.

Good question. I'd love to hear some responses. I coached gymnastics for about 10 years and in a pretty "bible belt" region. I never said bless you to sneezes and just smiled when a parent would comment on how their little one included me in their prayers at night. It'd be nice if some of the kids I influenced saw me as a good person, a role model, and wouldn't think less of me if they later found out I was an atheist the whole time.
