I'm on the east side of the state, and its much more conservative/republican/religious over here than on the coast. I grew up in this area, moved away for eleven years, and moved back recently; and in that truly discovered how much I have changed. My wife and I have also a little to find like-minded people to socialize with; the acquaintances we make that have potential always end up inviting us to church (and that turns into a show-stopper more often than not).
