About Me
Libertino is Esperanto for Freethinker. I am a member of the 'Lake Superior FreeThinkers". http://www.lsfreethinkers.org/

Yes I am a nerd. I spend lots of time at a Linux or UNIX computer.

I am nerdier than 92% of all people. Are you a nerd? Click here to take the Nerd Test, get geeky images and jokes, and write on the nerd forum!

I had little or no introduction to God, Christianity, or the Church until my father and mother started to divorce. Then at some point my father stared to go again. This was completely new to me and I thought "what - why" I was about 7 or 8.

Before that my only introduction to God that I really remember other than going to church at grandmas house around Christmas was a time when I was trying to tell my dad my (small world theory) "Dad I said if you know a guy at work and he knows a guy who lives far far away and he know some one in Germany and he know someone who knows... and that guy know you" I did not have a name for this but I have been interested in what I now know to be call "6 degrees of separation" ever since. In retrospect I think this was profound for a kid of 4, 5, or 6. And all my dad could say was "Well God know every body." "Who?" I thought...

At about the age of 8 or 9 ( Third Grade ) I discovered Phenomenology and decided that every thing that I perceived to exist was all in my head I was the only thing that truly existed. Yep I was a strange kid.

In retrospect I have always been a FreeThinker; I have always tried to question every thing even my own reality.

In 5th grade my mother sent me to a Catholic School, not because I was Catholic I was Christian, and not because my mother was she has been Agnostic almost all her life. But because she thought that the smaller class size would do me good and I could get more one on one attention with my schooling. I was taken out of that school not long after a home work some homework I had a question on it about how was God going to end the world. I put that God would just snap his fingers and end it. The Correct answer was God was going to use Nuclear Bombs... I asked the Nun why would God use man made Nuclear Bombs? It quickly went down hill at that point. I was soon in a public school getting a better education.

I love Science and when I was a kid wanted to grow up to be a Scientist.

I think People who are Satanist are still part of the Christian religion to me they can't think out side of the 'Christian Dichotomy Box' or CDB for short. Ask a Christian "If Satan is not a God too, hows that end of the world war b/t God and Satan supposed to be a fair fight?" OK getting off track another example is you would not expect a Hindu to worship Satan if he/she was evil you would expect them to be Thuggee worshipers of Kali... OK I know I need to come up with a better example but it was all I could think of in a pinch. Hate is not the answer to hate.

I can't stand willful ignorance.

Music

You will note that I have all kinds of music on the list some of it is some how related to my thinking on religion ( The Prophet's Song, One of Us) and intellectualism ( Holiday in Cambodia ) my music at home is the same Punk, Rock, Classical, Jazz, New Wave, Opera, Leon Redbone, Cat Stevens ....

"The Prophet's Song" is reminds me of my father who was sure the world was going to come to an end ( World War 3 ) by God's / Man's hand soon. He wanted ( thought God told him ) to build an Arc like Noah's only if you saw this ark you would call it a flying-saucer. Ya my dad went nuts...

I think that Queens 'The Prophet's Song' goes with Tools Schism. You will note that the Schism that I have on my music list is not by Tool.

I don't think it is fake, the camera person (possibly a sibling) is obviously trying to hide the fact that they are being videoed from the mother. The conversation seems to go on unrecorded also. This sort of thing happens all the time and…

Don't hold this against me, but the most interesting person I've heard tossed out there as a probable INTP is Adolf Hitler. - The man was a fantastic public speaker. Something I wished as a child I could be and found some talent in when I…

Just letting you know that Heavy Traffic was full of violence and harsh scenes. One is hard pressed to find a protagonist. Have you seen American Pop? It's a much more polished film with a lot of depth, but it doesn't go into religion particularly and glorifies cocaine dealers a bit.

I love your Avatar, Avatar! The works of Ralph Bakshi are awesome. Did you see the religious scene in Heavy Traffic (the rest of the movie could have been skipped to get to that part)?

Hey, thanks for the welcome, Libertino816. I've become familiar with Facebook as a social network recently, but am curious about what happens here. Looking forward to finding out!

Cool, a fellow nerd/geek ;O)... I do not meet too many Unix/Linux users out side of the net, or on message boards/social networking site. :O/ It good to know that we are not alone. :O)

P.S.
Interesting choice to Avatar from the animated film "Wizards" for your page avatar.

Hah i saw the same post. It's nice to know i'm not the only one being bombarded with that crap. A|N is better by miles. I'm now weighing leaving my Facebook idle purely as a means for contact vs. telling people to use e-mail like normal people and deleting my presence there.

Dunno if it's so much introversion as a general hatred for my high school years. I joined Facebook with the intention of contacting ONE person from those days and ended up with pages of "Friend" requests from people who - apparently - didn't remember snickering at me behind my back for four years. Ah, high school.

Thanks for the group suggestions, i'm just getting started at A|N (been an atheist for a while, just gun-shy over social networking sites ever since i reluctantly joined Facebook and was subsequently bombarded with application invitations and "friend" invites from people i hadn't seen since high school. Bleagh.).
