Australia now has an atheist, redheaded, working class, woman prime minister.
And you Americans thought getting a black guy was a long shot!!
Talk about made my day, when in one of her first public interviews our new PM Julia Gillard professed that she was a lapsed baptist who is actually an atheist because she just cant bring herself to believe in it all. You go girl!!!

Chrys Stevenson said… - Hi Leesa! Thanks for joining our group! Re separation of church and state - are you aware that Australia's Constitution does not guarantee a separation of church and state? That was knocked down in the High Court Ruling of 1981 regarding the Defence of Government School's Case. We actually have less protections here than they have in the US - which is why we fund religious schools. Glad you liked the intro to the submission - I'm working on the next section at the moment, and should have it out for comment by the end of the week, early next week.
