"@ Providence. I Haven't chimed in for some time. However I too agree with the previous posts by everyone, esp Joan Denoo. I remember coming out and thinking I was like a toddler again. I had to retrain myself on how to think about life, diverse…"
"@ nerdlass. My experience has been that most believers simply don't get what we're saying. Repaired articulate arguments they don't process the information. My best friends, mother and others still think I'm going through a phase…"
"Leaving faith and our social relationships is extremely hard for the reasons that you and many others are experiencing. Leaving faith leaves us lonely, alone and frustrated. We face the same obstacles that theists face. However many times we do it…"
"Here in Ct, the brand of xtianity i was brought up in was virulently opposed to homosexuality. After years of growing up in this environment I began to think that they protested a little too much. I think the same may be true for Charlie, or what…"
"This is an interesting conversation. Unfortunately I do think that the end of segragation meant the end of entrepreneurs. In Dr there are a few black owned businesses. I try to patronize them all, and I think others should too."
"I too wonder about the mental abilities of some believers. They consistently and persistently refuse to analyze their beliefs. This both frustrates and irritates me. However when we critize their beliefs we're the devil or not spiritually…"
I came out of the proverbial closet and gave up on religion about 3 years ago. Life now is much sweeter. I'm a former pentecostal preacher who got tired of the hypocrisy, lies, offerings and unintelligent arguments for theism.
Thanks for friending me. As I stated in the news item thread, I admire and respect people who have taken the journey from faith to freethought, and for former clergy it's got to be especially hard. Hopefully by connecting to people here and locally you can discover that you are not alone in this process, if you ahve not learned that already. We are all going through a journey in life, and it's the only one we have.

A belated welcome L. Hunter. I imagine that as a former preacher you have been on a long and difficult journey. The moderator of this site is also a former preacher. I am curious about whether you have met others - there seem to be lots. Dan Barker is another one.
Well done to make the difficult escape. You probably have a very good story you could tell us one day.
Welcome to this splendid site and its bright people like you who can now recognise religion for what it is---a giant fraud, and gods mere fictions inside the heads of unknowing believers.
