"The episode South Park did on the Mormon Church is a classic. I just had to throw that one out there for those of you who've never seen it. it is priceless."

Mormons are Perfectly Content to be Dishonest With Themselves

Mormonism has a holy book, much like the bible, which they consider the "keystone of their religion". This is the Book of Mormon (BoM). They claim, and have claimed all along, that if this book is true then the church is true. If it is false, then the church is false. They have always been willing to state this, though they obviously do not mean it...because modern technology has proven the claims of the Book of Mormon are not true. Based on the bold claims, you would think that Mormons…See More

Smiling Pirates

Posted on April 21, 2009 at 5:00pm 1 Comment

Did anyone see the pictures of the captured Somali pirate in the news recently, as he was being brought to New York for prosecution? It is quite revealing and shows clearly that the problems that we are facing in this world are not as clear cut and easy to parse as all that.

To begin with, he is a teenager...a minor. He will be tried as an adult, and I would agree that the crimes of priracy would normally hold such a stipulation.

But, did you see him smile? He looked… Continue

Bush Administration Playing Nice?

Posted on December 2, 2008 at 12:23pm 3 Comments

Many are viewing George W. Bush's treatment of the incoming administration as a sign of his presidential qualities and as something of a surprise. I have heard long time Bush haters offering praise for him and his administration based on this.

Me? I am not surprised, nor do I think it is a move worthy of praise. I think before we get all wrapped up in the outward appearence of such actions, we need to think of motives and agenda.

Have any of you seen a more corrupt… Continue

"Somebody Up There Loves Me!"

Posted on November 17, 2008 at 1:55pm 1 Comment

At 2:30 AM on Friday, I sat watching the TV, unable to turn it off and go to bed. Embers had been blown from a rapidly moving brush fire into a mobile home community in Sylmar, Ca., and now I was watching horrified as random homes in the densely populated park began to go up. As I watched, scared and frantic residents scrambled to get what few belongings they could and got out. The police and fire department, trying to prevent destruction were then quite literally chased out of the park by the… Continue

Shame on the Mormons

Posted on November 7, 2008 at 11:23am 3 Comments

The first few decades in the history of the mormon church are truly remarkable. It is an example of religious bigotry at it's finest. The mormons were run from state to state, being driven out eventually by the other 'god fearing' people of those states. New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri and Illinois...in each state, mobs of religious people gathered to drive the mormons out. The efforts became increasingly worse, until in Missouri the governor of the state issued the 'Extermination… Continue

Hi Larry, and thanks for your lucid comments amid the firestorm of volatility that my post about my book caused. I have promoted the book (written by an atheist, atheist themes) to other atheist Web groups and never had anything but positive feedback, so I was really taken aback that folks would jump on me so hard. I suppose I can see a bit of the rationale; no one likes spam - but it's not like I was advertising Viagra or something completely off topic. :-)

Anyway, if you are interested in the themes of the book, or the thoughts and events that went into it, please feel free to write me personally.

Cheers,
Lori
