Hey Kurt, I currently live in Pickerington and have for the past 5 years, but I grew up in the Green Bay area of WI. I can't wait to get to Portland even though neither my wife nor I have a job there yet. I will definetly join groups once we settle in. Thanks
Kurt- Somehow I managed to completely miss the comment you left back in November. I just read it and am finally getting back to you! No, I was not faking the circumstances... I lived and lead with extraordinary conviction. A dash of humility cultivated sufficient trust in people to take them deeper into the rabbit hole. I both hallucinated actively (and in fact lost MUCH sleep because of it) and lead others to hallucinate as well...but my hallucinations seem to have frequently(not always though) been qualitatively different compared to theirs.
I would be curious to hear more about your own transition from such an apparently solid Christian background toward atheism. What prompted the shift?
As for book recommendations... Just about any neurology text is an excellent catalyst for understanding, but in particular "Zen and the Brain" is an exceptional read. On the more theoretical side is "The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind." Additionally, any reading about the molecule dimethyltryptamine seems of value, as it is a powerful hallucinogen produced in the human body.
