My Story

I was raised from birth to be Christian. My father and my brother are/were preachers. There is a long line of preachers in my family. I was born into the mess they call religion. I like to say that I was brainwashed from birth but eventually shook it off myself. When looking back on my life and trying to pinpoint exactly when I decided that I wasn't a Christian like the rest of my family, I have to say that I remember starting to question things around the age of seven. By ten I was becoming…See More

About Me
Agnostic/Athiest
Divorced mom of three sons. Come from a very religious family so I have found myself to be "black sheeped" due to my different beliefs. I continue to be amazed at how intolerant the "believers" are to those of us who are not believers. It's not as if we are hurting them. You never heard of agnostics hunting down people and killing them just because they were not ignostic, however, the religious do just that.

Yeah waco sucks pretty hard for us non believers. really off topic but to the right of my post is a banner reading "Are you a GOOD Christian? Take the quizz". Just thought the irony was pretty funny.

Hi Kristi,
I'm a divorced dad with one son - a six year old. Yep, Waco is a pretty tough town to be a non-believer - lots of churches and intolerance here. I'm out as an atheist to my close friends, but not to my family. I've just avoided the subject for decades! I do fear being black sheeped. My family is VERY Baptist.

Yes, it's crazy isn't it. The believers are so wrong, yet their doctrinal beliefs lead them to think that only they are right.
I have written much about in the Nexus discussion group
"ORIGINS: Universe, Life, Humankind, Religion, Darwin..." where we seek to understand the mysteries of the universe, and how life and humans and religion and everything began.
There are lots of good discussion topics and many video films including ten lectures from Stanford University on evolution and Darwin.
So welcome to Atheist Nexus----the world of reasoning, rational sense, and good friends. No dogma, no doctrines, just freedom for commonsense thinking.

Hi. Glad to see you found this black hole in the matrix. My name is Brad, I'm an atheist.

I share your observation, that, yes, I don't know of nor have I heard of any mass slaughters carried out by atheists. I've never heard of any "missions" of any kind carried out by atheists. I find it very disturbing that believers can read the same history and still with a strait face say that christains have bean the ones persecuted through it all??? That to me is extreme... completely brain washed. Goes to show, that as powerfull as our brains are they are just as weak.

welcome to a/n,
B
