Hi Kurt.
Regarding the Reason Rally, our flight doesn't get us into DC until later on Friday, just before 6pm. We're staying at L'Enfant. We're in D.C. for several days to visit a close high school friend and sightsee with the kids.
Let me know when you're meeting at the Jefferson Memorial, and I will do my best. If you are meeting before my flight, let me know if there are other times that work for us to get together. I have not finalized plans with my friend or confirmed tours yet.
Hope to see you there! I've been really looking forward to this for a long time. Even the kids are excited now. It went from "speeches from some people dad likes" to "Tim Minchin & Myth Busters!!!"
Later,
Mark
Angela Olson said… My trip to Ireland was very eye-opening. Being there and learning about ancient pagans and rituals, touching old relics and hearing stories, it was so fascinating to see firsthand these past cultures and human history that shaped much of modern-day religion. I was more ignorant on the topic of the Catholic vs Protestant feud than I had realized, and it is certainly disturbing to me to think that such deep-seeded hatred exists on such a superficial level. I will go back through my journal and post some highlights on my trip.

Ruth Anthony-Gardner said… I've been thinking, we don't need official approval. If we wanted to link informally, so our members could easily hop back and forth to look at discussions (even without posting) and have discussion spin offs on the home group, we could do that ourselves. Imagine we asked members to vote, and both groups approved. We could just each create pinned discussions with links to the other group, and have the spin-off talk there. Hey, just throwing out ideas, Kurt.

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film. The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons. He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"! .
No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes. 'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands. Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day. however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more. in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.
I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).
THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
