I've only been an atheist for about a year, but in that year I've gone through the bible and taken some of my favorite quotations to recite to Christians whenever they want to have an argument with…Continue

O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is he who repays you for what you have done to us- he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks. Psalm 137:8-9 You can't get much more charming than that.

You forgot my favorites. Exodus 21:20...beating slaves to death, Numbers 31:? Kill every body but keep the virgins for yourselves, and Luke 12:47 Beating the hell out of disobediant slaves, Psalm 137..Blessed is he who dashes a child against the…

That's a pretty damn interesting observation. Is there a St. Kelly? I did a googlie, and nope. How the hell did I escape that coming from an Irish Catholic family? Brothers James Michael, and Joseph Patrick....and I don't have the Saint…

You're named after a saint? WOW! Me too!

Today I had to go to the bank with my mother to resolve some issues with our accounts. It was a lengthy procedure and during some casual conversation my mom decided to mention that she's always disliked her name, but that she was named after St. Felicity.I don't get why any American bothers mentioning this. With a quick google search, you will find a list of nearly 600 saints all with different names. 9 out of 10 American's are named after saints. St. Kevin, St. Luis, St. Diana, St. Alexandra,…See More

It's so sad that people still believe in the imaginary sky daddy.

Thanks David :P come to think of it, I never needed to go that deep into the body... I could've just stuck with the superficial stuff... eyes ears and mouth. Does God need eyes to pick up photons to see? Why have a mouth when he can just…

And yet I think Kevin missed the most important point, from a philosophical POV: does God have a belly button? (By the way, do sex dolls have a belly button? I'd bet at least some have one.)

Forgot to mention to Lynn, I support you on your stand. That's the time to speak up, for sure. Having a mutual acquaintance saying a prayer for you in a public place, in an intimate setting like that, shows no respect for your own religious…

I'm with you Jim. Although I find it offensive in my own home, I don't make an issue of it, just ignore it and go on serving. If it's not already 'on the agenda', confronting your guests unexpectedly with your philosphical…

I like your approach, Kevin. Dealing in the absurdities rather than the 'facts' is one of the best strategies to attack religious dogma. There's so much meat there. I thought it was very restrained of you not to get started on…

Perhaps the Vatican could finance the construction of adolescent boy dolls and issue one to each priest upon their ordination. - in the long run they would save money. They could even bless them.

You're reading these words way too literally. Sex dolls were created in Woman's image and they don't have digestive tracts, etc. either. On the other hand it may be a hint that God is closer to sex dolls than humans are.

I was Roman Catholic for nearly 21 years. I had my doubts about the bible, but like most religious people I just ignored the parts of the bible I didn't like. I think the first time I thought "wow, atheism makes so much more sense than…

In His Image

Created in God's image? Don't make me laugh.

God has a digestive tract? For the food he doesn't need to digest or eat?

God has lungs? To breath the air that doesn't exist in his realm of reality?

God has a lymphatic system? To help fight off diseases that he created?

God has bone marrow? To create the blood his body doesn't need?

God has a heart? To pump the blood…

Grace - an insult to the cook

Posted on July 25, 2010 at 11:30am 8 Comments

I'm sure many other atheists out there like to cook, and I have a question for you. Does it offend you when the people you cook for say grace before eating your meal? I mean, obviously they know you're an atheist and they should be thanking YOU for the meal, not jesus.

My mom and dad are split up right now, so whenever I can cook dinner for her, she appreciates it. There are 5 of us total excluding my dad. My family knows I'm an atheist yet they always insist on saying…

Hello Kevin. Welcome to this friendly meeting place with freethinkers who recognise that gods and religions are deceptions that are used to control vulnerable superstitious people, including defenceless children; and how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and even longer.
