You can probably relate to the story of Dr. Stephen Uhl, a former Catholic priest turned atheist and psychologist. I read (? heard?) his audiobook No Gods, No Guilt, in which (among other things!) he relates that he gets much more fulfillment from helping people beat addictions and other problems using science than he ever did in proclaiming people absolved "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
