"Being the only few people of any radical difference from the norm is hard. I'm with you in spirit, however you decide to handle this. Maybe try the ACLU? The school is violating your civil liberties to raise your child according to your ethics."
"According to http://www.religioustolerance.org/ps_pra9.htm you are on the right side of the law and have right to get her to stop. Shes breaking the law. You can sue if she doesnt stop or if she singles your kid out to blame for the lack of prayer…"
"I think you also have the law on your side. I would be very pissed as well and who hasnt been 'there' when youre about to explode at someones disregard for personal autonomy. You might want to go to the prinipcal or school council as well…"
"Well being more serious. Bringing this up reminds me of when I went to school in Louisiana and the teacher brought in this guy in a suit pulling red wagon full of tiny bibles. He said he was a member of the Gideon society and he proceeded to ask the…"

Greetings, Keia! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus since June 2010. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.
I'm not Texan and I hope to move out of this state someday, so I don't really consider it my fight either, but I do try to get as far away from the school as possible so I don't raise my blood pressure.
Welcome to Atheist Nexus with its 8000 good friends.
A useful group is “ORIGINS” (Origins: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion....) with its 125 discussions and numerous video films.
One discussion (over 70 posts) is "Proud to be Atheist".
There's much to feel good about
because atheists and humanists hold the intellectual high ground—far removed from the superstitious god believers who submit to a narrow-minded controlling clergy with their imaginary heaven and hell.
