Hi I'm Katie and I am sooo excited to see that there is an actual site like this. I'm from a small town and have never actually meet another atheist so I feel so much less alone knowing there are so…Continue

"Yeah, besides the fun, dropkick-a-fundie calls, there are a lot of calls from Atheists trying to figure out how to deal with Crhistian friends and family, once they come out of the closet."

"Howdy and welcome from another small town in midwest USA. One good thing I can relate from my experience is that the more people that get to know I'm an atheist, the more who start to come out the closet around here. In a lot of ways, it's…"

"Hi, Katie. I'm from a tiny hole-in-the-wall town in PA, so I know exactly where you're coming from. I second someone's suggestion to watch the Atheist Experience if you can. It's not only entertaining, it's very comforting."

"That goes without saying. It isn't the people that I already know which I care about but the people I don't yet know, like future employers. When you say something online you have to assume that it is there, for the world to read, forever."

Hello Katt, and welcome to this friendly meeting place with freethinkers who recognise that religion is a huge deception aimed at controlling vulnerable superstitious people, including defenceless children; and
how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and even longer.

The world can seem lonely until you find others with whom you can be yourself and feel accepted. Forging your path can be difficult, just know that you are not alone and that somewhere, someone else is facing the same struggles as you.

Oh wow. Yeah, I feel your pain. It'll get a little better when you get out of high school, and driving the 30 miles to Columbus isn't as big of a deal. Same deal with the small towns around here. One of my friends lives in Youngsville, NC. Hick Southern Baptists everywhere.

I don't suppose you've looked on meetup.com for any local Atheist groups, huh? That's how I found a couple of my local Secular and Atheist groups. If I was able to find something down here in the Bible Belt, you should be able to find something near a large city in the midwest.

Oh, and I forgive you for the 2004 election, since you can't vote yet. :-P
